In my opinion this is by far the most concise and comprehensive video on the subject on RU-vid! Many thanks for sharing and updating your knowledge, much appreciated.
This presented a ton of very valuable information. Thanks for doing this video. It is an invaluable help. I will now be able to create videos that will allow our son to learn at his pace. Thanks a million!
I have used both the surface and the iPad for some time, and I will say that drawing and writing on the iPad (iPad Pro with second gen pencil) is superior on the iPad, hands down. Also, windows on my surface has so much lag, I find I have to go back to my desktop quite often.
Thank you for this wonderful tutorial! It was exactly what I was looking for. I want to use my Surface Go to record lectures that involve board work with equations
I have been looking for something that showed and explained this - and you did great! Only one question left: how do i connect my drawing pad to my computer to import what i've done?
This was very useful. Any easy way to record events outside of the computer ? For example, demo of any laboratory steps using separate webcam set up and bring that clip during recording ?
Yeah, if you use OBS, you can actually add as many webcams as you want. Even if it's a remote webcam that you view in a browser, you could add that as a source too.
Hi there. Thank you so much for this. It was really helpful. I need this for my educational channel. I also own and love the surface pro 7. If it doesn't bother you I have a question. Do you know how to make what I write appear on top of my video without the white backgroung ? Almost like a lightboard ? That will be awesome if you know how and can reply. Thank a bunch. A new sub from France :)
Good video! Question: So if I have a Surface Pro 7, would you say that I do not also need a graphics tablet? I will be teaching live classes online and the Surface Pro 7 is my desktop computer. Will probably be using MS Teams for classes. Thanks!
Hello Matt I 'm from India. After watching your video I get relaxead about how to make use the devices and software and as you have discussed everything in detais Therefore there is no doubt in my mind. I want to know one thing more I m a educational tutor so for the online video which device should be better Microsoft surface tablet or Ipad. Please suggest in commentbox.
I'm biased towards the Microsoft Surface, cause I'm a PC guy. I don't really like Apple products. But obviously people like them and think they're great, so it's really up to you.
Hey AWESOME video! Super thorough :) Quick question, I want to make a basic 'whiteboard video' using keynote where I would use the 'line draw' animation. I have a mac but no ipad and I wanted to buy the wacom tablet and then draw in keynote that way. Keynote on the ipad automatically has the drawing tools on the bottom (like pen, marker, whatever) but keynote on the mac doesn't seem to have this. Do you know if the keynote on the mac would recognize that I'm using a drawing pad and then show the drawing tools...? I know you're using microsoft equipment but thought I'd ask anyway :)
I'm not too familiar with Keynote, but it seems like the drawing tools are only available for native Apple products that have touch displays. I could be wrong though.
If you use OBS, it has a "virtual webcam" feature. So you can use OBS to add as many sources as you want, and it will be output as a virtual webcam that you can select in Facebook. Actually, you might be able to connect to the Facebook streaming server directly from in OBS. I don't do a lot of streaming so I'm not familiar with it.
Yes just saw your old video. thanks for the update. I would like to sketch on a pdf drawing as im video conferencing with my coworkers. How do you suggest I do this. I do have and ipad and pen, but if you recommend something diff would be open to suggestions. I also currently use all autodesk software.
Sounds like your in the construction industry? That's my background too. Have you heard of Bluebeam? They have exactly what you're looking for. Live collab sessions in pdf support.bluebeam.com/studio-sessions/
I've noticed the same thing! I got so frustrated with it I gave up. I've got the Elgato card that installs on the motherboard. I could never get it to work with Camtasia. That was the biggest reason I started using OBS
Any idea of how to add virtual pencil📝 to looks like your drive you back of you screen? PS: the pencil may appear(zoom in) when you actually touch the screen.
thats whats am really serching on these days cuz am a teacher , so big thanx please asking about the microsoft drawing if its free? also if wacom do all things the pro do it?
Great video, thanks very much Matt. Is there a way to exclude the pen navigation (ie: changing colors, etc) from the recording? I am using a Wacom Intuious and PowerPoint slides, which I am annotating as I present? I've checked settings on all the variables but cannot seem to see where I can turn-off this from the recorded video (which I presume is the same for audiences watching too - they must see my pen changes, etc)? Thank you!
I have a quick question about Microsoft Whiteboard and Autodesk Sketchbook: can you import PDF files into them and then "write" on them like I might do during a class lecture with my document camera?
Hi Karen. Yeah, Microsoft Whiteboard allows you to insert PDFs, but the pages you choose to import just get inserted as images, meaning, you can't navigate the "pages" as you would in typical PDF reader. They just get laid out in a grid. Works well if you only want to import 1 or 2 pages. You might find it more appropriate to use a PDF reader like Adobe Acrobat, Bluebeam, or one of the many free ones out there, that way you can flip through the pages as needed. They have markup tools for you to draw on the pdf.
I prefer to use an Apple pencil with an iPad, mirroring to my computer which is running an app called Reflector 3. I run a meeting in Microsoft Teams and record the video there. Not great quality, but very small file sizes!
Hi, tks for the useful video. Could Microsoft Surface Pro and Wacom Tablet work with Google Doc and annotate on it via the suggested drawing boards? Thanks
Yeah, it works. The annotation tools aren't that great in Google Docs, but it definitely works. The Pen device takes control of your cursor, so whatever you can do with your mouse, you can do with the pen.
Thank you, for your presentation. I was wondering whether you have explored using smartphones as replacement for tablets. I am exploring solutions for teachers living in remote areas of Indonesia, whom might not have the means to purchase a seperate tablet. Do you have any recommendations?
Could you please suggest a free whiteboard software that can upload ppts, pdfs, etc. I have tried a number of such but all offer a trial version. Thank you.
Yeah, if you are using OBS, you can set up a scene that includes a webcam. Or, you can record your camera, then edit the video on top of the screen recording in post-production
I like the writing pad for the texture, I've tried writing on my tablet with different stylus' and I just can't get around the fact that I'm writing on glass.
Is there a way to select a portion of my screen to record in obs or can hide the side bars within Autodesk Sketchbook? I'm trying to record and not show all of the side bars within that program.
There are many whiteboard type apps out there. Which one do you use in teaching math? I agree that drawing is essential in teaching or tutoring math, but the whiteboard functionality is also wonderful for working example problems and “writing notes on the board” as you would do in a classroom. I have been looking for a clean solution like this long before COVID-19 as being able to save the whiteboard and/or video for students who missed class tha day. I have a 2019 10.2” iPad and have purchased a Logitech pencil that works like the first Apple Pencil. Basically I want to be able to conduct tutoring sessions online using the whiteboard app and then save the entire session with video or even just save the whiteboard session as a PDF to share with the student after the actual session. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated and I suspect others would enjoy and appreciate the same information. I think Zoom is an option but I think you have to pay if the sessions are longer than a few minutes. Skype and others were mentioned in this video. Those teaching for a school system may even have software available. I teach part time at several colleges and don’t have a base for online sessions or the same technical environment at different campuses. I like the idea of doing it all on my iPad so it can work online or on a projector in an actual classroom at some point down the road. Thanks so much.
I have purchased xp pen deco 01 V2 , it is clearly written in specifications that it does not support ios but i am sure specifications was written when ios 13 was not released . Since now ipad support trackpad ....it may be now ipad support for graphic tablet
The bad thing in digital.white board is that i can see my mouse or pen as it writes. There should be a pen symbol as there is in screen draw in camtasia.
@@onlinebusinesstech sorry i want to edit the question. I am a math teacher and i want to show my cursor so that my student know where exactly i am gona write. You may have noticed that while you hand write, cursor doesnot show up. In khan Academy videos it shows up.
Oh! So you mean the opposite of what I was saying, lol. My bad. It does show a very small cursor when you get the pen close enough to the screen, but it's not very significant.
@@onlinebusinesstech yea thanks for understanding. Is there any method to show the mouse like a writing pen. Camtasia does show it but that is a screen draw and then you will have to disable it to further move in slides or do any thing else in computer.
sketchbook costs 350 usd +/-, not free anymore, it was a trap. Anybody has modern 2024 software to recommend? it's ok to pay a reasonable price, but for us that are not drawing professionals and want to make an explainer for fun, paying that much is too much.
