This is absolutely stellar ! I'm rather extremely technically challenged, and you don't know how long I've been looking for this most basic setup info ... basically, how to connect what to what. I was ready to finally break down and spend a few semesters in college recording classes. But what I want to accomplish though, is really quite simple and you have taken the confusion out of it for me. So thanks a bunch ! I'll share my first effort when finished. Thanks also for touching on the different methods - all very useful !

Recording electric guitar and vocals, as you describe can get you close, but if the artist has a bold strumming style dictated by the song, you end up with a ton of strumming and un-amplified guitar sounds. Any thoughts on how to manage that?

Hi Nick, thanks for watching and great question. It's difficult - there's always going to be *some* bleed from the guitar into the vocal mic, especially as you say with a bold strumming style. In this situation I would be advising the performer to record the guitar and vocals separately, or to just accept the leakage into the vocal mic. Anyone else got any ideas....?

Thanks, @@homemusiccreator I'm thinking I need a more directional mic for the vocals - have tried Ribbon (figure 8) before with limited luck, likely try that again first

What about a simple foam board propped between vocal Mic and guitar? Idea 2 piggyback from home music creator BUT 2 takes, one as normal with strum noise, then take 2 and overdub a second vocal listening and trying to sync with yourself like they do in the movies...delete vocal 1

Im new to all this, i have behringer umc22 audio interface, and i am trying to connect my guitar to fl studio , the thing is when i am connecting my guitar to my amp i am getting the feed in my microphone but not in fl studio , like in my ears i can hear my guitar and vocals but in fl studio i cannot somebody please help me out

Hi my mic catches and record my guitar strumming how to eliminate that?

Hi! That's really difficult - it's impossible to eliminate entirely. Maybe you can compensate a bit after recording with EQ, but that's not a great solution. The only way to get rid of it totally is to record the vocal and guitar separately. Sorry I couldn't be of more help!

Record twice 1. Both as normal track 1 + track 2 2. Vocals only - Sing along to Vocal one as close as possible inside separate track 3 3. Delete Vocal 1 Keep Vocal 2
