Everyone keep in mind that the microphone quality (he's using a very top end one) and room quality are the first 90% of mixing crispy vocals. Don't invest $1000 into uad plugins until you've made a nice vocal booth and bought a nice vocal mic.

first time I’m seeing the x-4, I just picked up a twin duo x thunderbolt to replace my old original first gen silver thunderbolt, I didn’t even see this or I would have upgraded, I simple can’t load my twin up with this many uad2 plugs but I use some natively there’s just that weird protools low latency mode that disables certain things. Also my first time seeing anyone track vocals live using ableton, sounds good! I’m just so used to seeing Protools HD over these many years and at home I’m running PTs 12, Studio One 5 and ableton 11, I guess I gotta show that daw some more love Sound good!

I usually only use Ableton to produce since I am not a big fan of the mixer view and have to see the effects by clicking on the individual tracks. I mainly use Logic to mix and master since I prefer it's mixer view, but the way you use Audio Racks in Ableton s intriguing and I might try it out. Thanks as always for sharing this knowledge.

I really wish that UAD would make some type of a tape style kind of thing so when I playback the mic doesn’t Feedback,like ProTools , when playing back it cuts off the mic

Help me out. Could someone please tell me why Reid goes to the effort of setting up the UAD effects for the singer but then DOESN'T commit the effects to the sample to edit in the DAW. I understand why you might not want the reverb (nice to set this up for the singer in the recording process) and likewise the autotune, but the preamp and Manley options seem legit for commuting to your DAW?

Hii. How do you find the Converters in the X4 compared to the X rack unit? Is it as good, Same or slightly different? I know they have different clocking which may make them sound different.

Is there a way to use just UAD Pre Amp and run it into Logic and use plugins in Logic on my recordings? I’m struggling here. And I already have auto tune in Logic so I don’t wanna have to buy another with UAD just to use it when I record. Someone please help?

Hi Reid! Thanks for the effort put into your channel man. I am having issues with recording vocals on my Apollo Twin. The volume is perfect at Console and everything sounds great but when I go to Ableton the level of that recording is barely audible. I have the inserts from Console in Rec mode and the FX on monitor. Do you have any idea on what am I doing wrong/ Thanks and cheers from Berlin!

I´ve seen some people talk about that Phase flip for the delays, but what is it for? I see for example the waves H-Delay has a phase inversion button but when pressing it, it just makes the delay cancel itself. Thanks Reid

Hey lil pup. Thank for the cool vid! Was wondering though... You put the sidechain compressor after the reverb to duck the reverb. Which I get - but it was also after a bunch of other plugins. So does that not mean the all your plug ins before your side chain are being ducked? But then it almost looked like it disappeared in your chain when you added the next plug in. Could you please help me out with what happened? Cheers!

Quick Q: Between the Neve 1073, Manley Voxbox, or a Dynamic EQ, which would would you choose for lead and background vocals?? Seems like the Manley has a built in desser, whereas a 1073 is for color. Which is going to provide more in terms of feature per dollar? Thanks!! Also subscribed!

Next time please record on a mic that's more common with most people budget! You honestly can record with no processing on the vocal and it would be lit on $10,000 mic.
