How to Record your Screen in QuickTime Player on Mac 

I must have a different version, but this video was still helpful, bc the icon in the top menu bar was what I needed to learn. THANK YOU for your help!

I was able to find the part I was missing the icon to "stop" recording in the top bar! Missed that 'till you pointed it out. Thank you.

Guys, I've also found out if you left-click the Quicktime Player then you can also press screen record :) (hope this helps)!

there is no menu bar showing anywhere and screen recording is greyed out?

Apple should've fixed the UI-absurd recorder icon in the menu bar, which no one can intuitively figure out LONG AGo. Then there's the issue of how do you captures jut a portion of the screen?

how do you get it to record the sound as well as a video that is playing on your desktop

When I click on "new recording" the black "New Recording" box does not appear, instead there's a pic of a camera. Then I click that on and nothing happens

Unfortunately on my Mac, there's no visible option to stop the recording. Maybe it's hidden somewhere?
