Great work Jason. I can’t believe someone completed such a poor standard of repair, and was happy to hand it over to the customer. I really admire your attention to detail, and commitment to achieving the best possible result. I’m not a body shop technician, I know very little about painting, but like most people, I can easily tell The difference between a good and bad repair, if there is no evidence anyone has been there, that’s a quality finish❤.
Hey Jason, I think this has been the best prep and masking video I have seen to date as there was loads of very useful info which was explained in a way that us hobby/diy types can understand, I found the way you blocked the doors then used the DA so you can see any scoring from the block work due to the paint still being soft. I have no idea what the last place were thinking to let such a shoddy job go out the door especially on a pristine car like that, did the owner reject it hence the reason you have it now🤔if you don't want to say then that's no problem mate👍 Thanks again for sharing this Jason as it must have taken a while to film and edit👌🙏👍
Cheers mate, the customer bought it with the bad paint job, i took me about 6 hours to edit 😂 most of them do I'm trying to give as much detail in my videos as i can plus I'm always trying new ways to make the editing better with new software, I'm learning all the time on this side of things so its quite time consuming but when i get positive comments and it helps people it makes it all worth the effort
That's a lot of editing time, what little editing I do these days is done with CapCut it's an easy bit of software to use plus it's free and very powerful👌I looked at quite a few different packages but they all look very complicated and I spent about an hour looking at the main screen and still had no idea and thought I'm getting to old for this🤬🤣 I think you do a great job with the editing as they are easy to watch and follow, I find some people just pack their videos full of transitions and weird effects which IMO adds nothing to it's content, thanks Jason👍
Great video Jason . What a dogs dinner that was ! How did it ever get passed off as acceptable, someone that didn’t have pride in their work obviously. Look forward to the painting in part 2. Cheers mate Vince.
another great video, and even though the camera doesnt pick up how bad it is i can see the peel, scratches etc. its rough as. great tipps with the masking too, much appreciated, looking forward to part 2
I'm trying too show the resons why i i take my time masking to my new apprentice and how important it is . Your so right about stripping it can be a nightmare !!!! . Personally i would barcoat those doors because off the soft clear you don't know what they've used and might react with just primer but thats just my opinion . Great work buddy 👌
61yrs old and still doing a similar thing was offered a supervisory role a few yrs back but wanted to stay hands on as I'm a bit anal and think dont ask someone to fo a job if you cant do it yourself keep it up brother you'll know when it's time to stop 😊😊😊
Fair play to you mate, I couldn’t agree more with wanting to stay on the tools, I’m ok with the manual work it’s the business side of it that mentally drains me
One paint shop "Terry " used to put the masking tape over his hands on to his wrists like bracelets and pull the tape off. They would not go over my hands so I called him Terry Tiny Hands lol
Hate having to fix someone else's paintwork! The amount of times I painted a wing etc then demasked it to have the lacquer peel on the adjacent panel🤦♂️ drives me nuts as I end up fixing that for free as I don't want it to leave looking like that and feel for most customers having to pay more than I quoted! now I look very hard when quoting to cover any issues! 🤞
@@ANDY-we7mr Yeah he's my son, your see blending metallics in part 2 mate 👍, i have over videos about blending metallics, not sur what i can show you on the scales mate they are linked the paint system software its basically weighing out the required amounts of products as it tells you on the program
