486dx2 chips sell for between £10 and £20 each on ebay. Some of those vintage PC's sell for hundreds. Best off selling them rather than stripping for gold
I completly agree , floppy drives and cd sell for 5 Euros + shipping each and mainbaords go for 5-50 Euros + CPU can go up to a few hundred bucks if its a rare one and graphic cards too because of collectors only thing maybe worth is maybe the power supply or RAM or some old PCI cards that noeone wants

It depends on the price of the chemicals and how cheap you can get the scrap electronics, I think in the US 1 liter of Hydrochloric Acid cost somewhere between 30 to 40 $, here in my country 1 liter of hydrochloric Acid is somewhere between 0.50-1$ and plus you can get free scrap electronics.

You really don't have to clean the sludge with hot water THAT many times. You can sidestep cleaning it by filtering it out more than once with Aqua Regia.

I wonder why most people don't mechanically smash/grind the chips to powder before acid processing? It's a quick easy task, easily done with a simple hopper+sanding machine, and you'd get gold out faster and using less acid which surely makes the Recovery Effort more time & cost efficient. I also wonder why not use a fresnel lens to focus the sun's rays which can heat anything to very high temp. and take a load off the expensive gas torch?
I've thought about pulverizing the material before the processing as well and have found no issue with it at all. It is very much more efficient in the gold extracting process. The Fresnel lens is good and all yeah. But people are lazy and just go with the hot plate. Both methods of heating work just as well as the other though, one is just more environmentally friendly is all.

great series of videos but i have to ask... where the heck are you getting so much nitric acid? i live in the USA, every source i've found to buy nitric acid has cost about 300% the price of the acid itself for shipping/hazmat fees. 1 Liter here would run over $100 which makes it pretty cost prohibitive.
Do you come out ahead with the gold and silver after buying all the acids and chemical and the glassware and apparatus to reclaim it? Nitic acid alone is $20 a liter.
Last I checked, gold is like $60-$67/ounce and not sure of silver since it's kinda cheap. $120 - ~$40 in chemicals on the high end would still yield profit if scrapping, but most just want to do the process as a hobby.
