3 g out of 15kg of RAM is a 0.02 percent in weight of Gold in a RAM. Considering getting old RAMS were free. Substract to 150 euros in gold, the cost of materials and chemicals and at least 3 days of work. NOT economically efficient. Nonetheless nice video ;)
@@damic.489 I stil have the chips from 17 kilos ram ( 5-6 kilos), and the mlcc's and resistors (200-250 gramms) from the chips I can recover gold and maybe some silver, from the mlcc's /resistors I can recover silver and palladium. And I have the tin from the 17 kilos of ram sticks dissolved in a bucket of HCL, and I want to grow some tin crystals. These are my future video ideas. 😉👍
@@ogbullion That sounds awesome. I look forward to see it ;) Palladium is double as expesive as gold but you have to be really carefull with it's toxic compounds in handling. For melting the metal I prefer to use induction melting machine. You can get a 2000W one on ebay for maybe 200$ and you dont have vapourized metal particles flying around with the gas torch. Other option is to get a soldering machine and graphite electrode for mini arc furnace. Much safer methods regarding vapor generation and not having gold dust flying away by torch.
@@damic.489 Yup platinosis not sounds fun. Definetly a double glove situation, just like the silver-cadmium contacts. The induction furnace good idea I'll check it out! Thanks for the advice!🙂👍
@@ogbullion thanks for the feedback 👌 nice execution. Can you tell me where do you dump all the chemicals tho.. is there a special place or are they safe enough to be disposed in the sink?
@@instaboiidsg2117 the acid peroxid solution still useable, the fluid from the gold drop is goes to my stock pot with copper, after that add some angle iron to cement copper from solution, iron go in solution ( less toxic), than add sodium hidroxide to form iron hidroxid filter the solids and now no metals in solution and can be pour in the drain, the solids goes in the trash.
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4yGPm1U7U6s.html they do it in this video but like industrially. its really good and similar. Its about a company that gets recycled pc parts and electronics etc and makes them into gold or other precious materials.
I work in a recycling Company, we have Tons of this RAM Fingers and more recycelt from PC s... in a year.. we always wanted to know what a kilo is worth🤣😅😂😅😱
I saved soda cans for 1 year even went digging in trash to find cans every recycl day. By the end of the year crushing cans 6 days a week. Shed full of crushed cans. Made me $23.53 richer not bad. This is the same amount of wasting time. Cheers 🍻
My dad wanted to do this also with all his old computer parts and i told him just the shipping for the chemicals and proper disposal makes it not cost effective but i do love the process however but on a non-commercial scale the money and benefit outweighs the reward lol still great vid though!
@@Jezidka he knew where to get the chemicals it's just too much for the shipping of hazardous materials for the little gold he could recover he would not more money sending old computer parts to a company that does this on a commercial scale
I did some calculations. The human body contains .0002g gold. If you could remove all the gold from every living person it would weigh about 1.575 metric tons and worth about 87.43 million dollars U.S.
True, but Gold (silver too I'm sure) is lacking in our diet as it is. Gold has a LOT of beneficial health (brain in particular) effects. Stop giving the elites another reason to go Australia on us XD
Add a couple of drops of sulfuric acid to the Aqua Regia to precipitate out any lead that may have followed the gold foils. Also incremental dosing of nitric acid in smaller amounts will prevent excess nitric and the need to denox the gold solution. Also, you don't need to dissolve the potassium metabisulfite in tap water. You can dose the gold solution with straight powdered stump out. Great video though, I'm sub'd
You right. But sulfamic acid had a positive side efect, when react with nitric produces sulfuric acid. In my country sadly stamp out not available. And yes in powder form work better. Thanks for watching & sub!😉👍
Is there more gold on the fingers or in the chips? It is actually easier, faster and cheaper to feed solution of Copper Chloride forward from a previous batch. Saves on hydrogen peroxide and prevents solution of any of the gold. HCl and H2O2 can also dissolve gold. It usually falls out again when there is copper present, but it is a possible source of loss. CuCl2 cannot do that and it dissolves the remaining copper faster than HCl and H2O2.
Not a bad idea, quick and simple. But i guess the losses of gold dust will be relatively high while with this procedure he gets something around 99% i guess and that in a 24k quality.
Would it be more cost effective to do this process with gold plated jewelry instead? How many cycles of doing this can you get out the chemicals purchased for this?
Make sure you check your fluids before disposal for gold. Make a test solution of stannous fluoride, dip a piece of filter paper in the solution and then put a drop of the test solution on the paper. Dark purple, lots of gold left. Orang to yellow, some gold left. Green is clean.
Any remaining gold in the solution can be dropped with som sodium sulfite. Do this very slowly otherwise the reaction is huge. Dissolved the clothes off me through my fiber glass lab coat. Took a water shower at work but by the time I got home my clothes were mere threads.
$300 in gold. What is the cost of the chemicals just for this process? Nevermind the cost, if any, for the initial 15kg of RAM. Seems like a loss. In any case though awesome video showing the process!
the main purpose of me to having here is to know the cost which you spent and the gold(worth) you obtain.I have enough time.Is that economical...As i'm a student to earn my fee...
I know a guy who succeeded to extract gold from electronics prints in Morocco. He went with 4 grams gold to a jewelry shop to sell it and the sales man told him that is not gold 😂 and refuses to buy it from him.
Hola soy de Perú por años saque por kilo 4 gramos solo se hace en agua regia y sale cloruro de oro de frente y se precipita con sulfato de hierro y listo mucha vuelta y pérdida de tiempo y material un abrazo
No. This is glassfiber, it goes to the trash. I'm not sell any gold. But if I want to sell, I have jeweller friend who take my gold in an assay office and get proper certificat, after that I can sell everywhere without questioning the authenticity. And same with my silver. Thanks for watching!
@@ogbullion Oh, ok, then It is defently worth it, that was not so much as I expected 👍 But can the solutions be reused maybe? Or is it to much things in it
I tried this in a more easy way ... i used the same fingers but i only used HCl to dissolve the copper below the gold and it left me the gold ... Question here is . you think i have pure gold ? or is it more than just the gold i repeated the HCl untill the HCl stopped turning green ... And yes i used the 10% HCl you can find in any hardware store .
Since gold is denser than everything else, couldn't you submerge the ram fingers into a crucible of molten lead and let the gold settle to the bottom? You'd have to hold them submerged with a steel screen, but the gold should liquify and sink. then you cool the lead, remove it from the crucible, and scrape the gold layer off the bottom. I would think that would be a much quicker process than waiting for the gold to dissolve into a solution then condensing it back into a solid. Granted you'd probably get a lower recovery percentage compared to doing it at the molecular level, but it would also be a much simpler process that you could repeat faster.
As of the time I posted this comment the value of that gold would be about 166 dollars. I wonder if this could actually be profitable taking into account time and expenses.
I have been collecting stuff with gold fingers out of many things people will leave out on the sides of the street for years now want to try some of this extracting techniques as my storage bin is over flowing that may be the point to star t i have questions I will like to know what concentration of nitric acid is used for the process and what concentration of sulfuric acid was used to make your acua Regia to dissolve the gold in solution thank you in advance
the price of gold in USD is $1,904. So he made over $180. $193.63 to be exact. Not very much for the time it takes to produce but a nice hobby for play money
Only it of pure curiosity I can see it is a hobby but if a person wanted to do this for purely cash would the time be worth it? Great video and no disrespect by asking this question. Just wondering
*Today that would be worth about $160. Forgetting your time and talent, how much money in all the materials needed for extraction? I realize this was an exercise, but I am curious.*
@@ogbullion This can't be possible! You are making around 120% profit, and if you make this on an industrial scale it would be even higher. Are you sure that was it?
@@onurylmaz3798 I bought 17 kilos of ram sticks for 30 $/ kilo + 20$ the cutter thingi. And i get 1 kilo fingers from the ram sticks this how i get the 50$ / kilo price.
OG Bullion thier might be an easier way to get gold off those green boards. I saw a guy use a flat end soldering iron, on the green board at each piece of gold it popped right off.
That's not easier at all... and you probaly not see the part 2 of the video of the guy who you mentioned ( e-waste ben) the process is a fail. Thanks for watching!
Nunca he visto cerámica en RAM.
@@enzogarcia8208 No entiendo completamente la pregunta. Puede extraer oro de los chips RAM quemando o eliminando el epoxi con ácido sulfúrico y luego eliminando los metales restantes con ácido nítrico y luego con agua regia.
