what I do is smash the thing with a hammer. The layers come apart & I use all contents for my plants, decoration or put it on the beach (any body of water would do.) Of course the plastic container that the 5-Stage filter stuff is in is trash! :(
Ziploc bags can't be recycled or disposed of with regular plastics with the symbols so I think suggesting you bag up stuff to put into the blue bin is very misleading.
@@ml4813 Apparently, only some of the contents (at the bottom) can. i don't even use this particular pitcher! I use their countertop dispenser and the other pitcher. I wish those filters were as easy to dispose of!

@@tambourini I have a friend who uses scissors to cut her filter apart but a hammer sounds more fun :) I just need to find a place where I can use that hammer!
@@RosieTulips I take the filter outside, put a towel or whatever over it (so the plastic doesn't fly in my face) & smash it carefully with the hammer so that the layers come apart. Sort the reusable stuff & sweep/toss out the rest!
