I watched your video and then looked around to see what I have here to make a similar item to reduce the flow of water. I DID IT! THANK YOU SO MUCH for your very informative video! My Betta now has a happy place to live without excess speed of water pitching him all over the tank!
I shared your video with an online friend of mine, who has the SAME tank/filter that I have...and she is ALSO in love with your video! Thanks for helping us out!!
Thanks a million, was at my wit's end looking for a solution, was thinking of tying a Balloon with holes to the nozzle. This video summed me up perfectly as small tank owners have limitations . A big Thumbs up for making my life easier:):)
@@gurribuy Wc, Your cloth idea made me think differently, tied a New sock with rubber band to the nozzle, the bubbles are silent as the socks calms the pressure so fishes might not get oxygen so reverting back to the glue stick or plastic container with some holes for some bubbles to flow out.
Very clever. Particularly the last option, which greatly increases the filtration power, is superb. the handkerchief is also a great and simple way to reduce flow.
You literally saved my betta. Thank you. I didn’t see any other sources mentioning the tricks you mentioned. I tried the cloth one and it decreased the current so so well. I just need to modify a bit (maybe stitch it with a thread and needle into a tube shape, so it doesn’t open up once in water). But amazing. Thank you. P.S: I have a large tank (7 gallon) but since it came with an already-installed filter, I couldn’t change it or control the flow. So these tricks helped a lot.
I'm not gonna say that using a glue stick container or tape is safe for your fish, but some of these ideas are great. I'll definitely try the cloth or make a hole in a different container to make a custom spray bar
You are brilliant.... I explained this to my idiot frnd... Still he bought another filter of less power... Then I send him same video.. But jugad karna sabke bas ki baat nahi... Science and tech is only for smarts... But thanks for video
Bhai mere, Ek regulator (Chabi, jo fish tank mein oxygen pipe mein istemaal kiya jaata hai) usey Power Filter ke safed wasle Oxygen pipe ke aage lagaake ke apne hisaab se force ko reduce kar sakte hain.. Itna bekaar ka maathapachhi na karke. Try karo, problem solve ho jaayega. Naayab tarika baata diye.. Unique Idea.. Force jab chaaho ghata sakte ho aur bada sakte ho aasaani se😊
What I did was place a binder clip on the end of the hose that is outside. You can position the binder clip according to your flow needs... This provides enough movement without putting effort on the fish
Thanks for the idea brother, I tried your method and reduced the output hole by attaching an old pen, unfortunately I think this causes too much back-pressure which pushes water out through the air intake tube as a side-effect ("made a mess on the table" situation)... So, an alternative I found is, at the end of air-intake-tube, we have a provision for opening it, I pop-opened it, I made a cotton ball and stuffed it into it then closed it; and when turned on, was able to reduce the flow pressure as I preffered...
Thank you bro. But, stuffing the air tube with cotton or any other material only reduces the air intake volume. However, the water flow remains the same. You can verify this by putting you hand in front of the filter output nozzle. But, whatever you did works for you then its great.
@@gurribuy Yes, seems you are right... just the visual bubbling seems to be lesser now after cotton, when lifted out of the tank the flow is quite unchanged...
Good trick, i have reduced water flow. I have used glue stick method, but i have a doubt that since bubbles are not coming now, oxygen supply will be there or not?
@@gurribuy Good job sir 💪. I understand all what you want to convey your English master is very good even though your accent is thick, and the idea you created is very useful thank you very much .. hope in the future many more useful videos.
Wow tank you so much. I had to buy a new filter cause my old one stopped working and to my horror I found that the filter I bought was too strong. Looks very much like the one you have. Used the cloth method. Works great!
well.. Old video but still very informative.. I just have one question in mind.. If we use a baffle for flow reduction like any bottle/empty glue stick then the water circulation will be low or same as before? so filter can still clean like before or not?
What about air bubbles?.. using any of these methods air bubbles pipe will also start flowing water outside?? I have used small filter fitted inside water taps ..its working with bubbles coming out u can also suggest this
Guyz just a small suggestion for small tank owners, if you buy 1.5 feet or less size tank, you'll have to worry a lot about the water pressure coming from the Power Air filters else you could try the Video methods. Next time if you are thinking of Power Air filters, go for minimum 2 feet Tanks as it has more space to throw the bubbles.
Not sure how I ended up on this video but rather doing all this, its better to buy a hang on filter. Also in case you bought something that doesn't work as described... Return it, no need to make any modifications. keep it simple 🙏. Another thing, based on all the ideas you shared, all you are doing is reducing the output flow. which means intake pressure remains the same and Betta wont be able to swim properly, which will stress betta and will eventually result in death. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Going off what I saw on another video, you can also put a bit of filter sponge into the output. I haven't tried this yet as my tank isn't completely set up. My tank is only 19 litres, so the pump I have is too powerful. Would you recommend filter sponge in the output?
Hello, power filter me jo air pipe hoti hai agar usko band kar de aur pipe nikal de aur usko cap se lock kar de to kya moter pe koi pressure padega ya koi nuksaan???
Thanks for the idea..i used it in my 2ft fry tank months ago it worked well..now i m using the same for my top filter with 2400L/H for my 3*2*2 ft tank for betta community..it keeps the fish happy..wont mind for my power head ..hope it doesnt gets damaged🤪
i'm happy that it worked for you. The basic idea is to redirect water flow in such a way that the water does not come out in a single stream but is diffused into multiple pathways.
Can I make bubble wall using that kind of pump. I have sobo pump and its too strong for my fish to swim. As of now, I block it a little bit with a flower vase to minimize the speed or flow of the bubbles. Can bubble wall help?
the main idea is to change filter output into many small output stream. we are not trying to slow down or stop the water flow. we are just trying to change single stream of water into many small stream so that all the small streams are not that powerful. it will not damage your filter.
Nice ideas. Just please don’t suggest using a shampoo bottle for the container on the last method. It should be any polycarbonate plastic that hasn’t been in contact with soap or oil.
Next stop , gun silencers. I just poked holed in a polythene bag to make it porous and stuffed it inside the intake valve after the sponge. same filter, 1 feet cube for plant growth and recovery.
I just made necessary speed reduction to my filter. But bubbles are not coming out. Does it provide necessary air supply to the fishtank without bubbles
if you reduce the speed then the bubbles will not come out of the filter. If you have a lot of fish in one tank then bubbles are necessary but if you only have 4 or 5 fish then bubbles don't matter much but there should be some water movement inside your tank.
yes, make enough holes in the bottle and you should still get the bubbles. But, the bubbles will be inside the bottle. attaching the bottle vertically will also help in producing bubbles.
Will it help and if yes, can we have this filter outside the tank? Say using two pipes one for bringing in water and other connected to the output with a particle filter (one of those external filters that come with RO) fitted on one of the lines? I have a small tank and have ended up buying a big filter :(
yes, you can but you will need to make your own filter somehow because this pump cannot work outside water. I will make a video soon about DIY external filter.
@@gurribuy Great looking forward to it. I need to some how regulate the flow to use the filter in my tank. Yes I got greedy and managed to get WP1000 filter. Its way too much for my tank.
NO. just make sure you are not stopping the water. We are just trying to divide the single stream from the filter into multiple streams so that the water is spread out and can't push our fish or plants around.
Hey bro, i want to ask you a question. I have a 2 x 1 x1 Ft Planted Aquarium. Which filter should i use? 500 L/H or 880 L/H ? i have only 3 fishes and may get 2-3 more in future. Thank You
500 L/H should be good enough in a planted tank but 880 L/H will also work. you have about 60 liter aquarium and if you divide 500 with 60 you get 8.3. that means the filter will cycle the water about 8 times in one hour. and the bigger filter you divide 800 by 60 you get 13.3 so, about 13 cycle in an hour. Finally if i had no plants i would go with the bigger filter but if i had plants i would use the smaller filter. I hope it helps. By the way what fish are you keeping.
@Gurribuy Thank you for your fast answer. Yup i do have plants and i have 1 Rainbow and 2 Angel Fishes. I m thinking of buying some more fishes. But my primary objective is the plants, the fishes are secondary.
