In this video we explain and show you how we do a relief/Dry cut. The log dry's from the heart out. By putting in a cut at the top of the log at a depth of about 3 inches, the majority of the drying will escape from that cut instead of coming out the side of the log creating a giant gash in your house. It also has a benefit of helping with the wiring of your house. The cut will never shrink so you can run your wires down the log to your next outlet instead of drilling up from your floor.
