It's obvious that Mr. Potterfield has a soft spot for single shot rifles, particularly Rolling Blocks.

I have a rolling block pistol. However the cable design is different. At the end of the handle, it has a metal cap with a ring. The barrel is hexagonal at the beginning and round at the end. From what I googled it is a special export version, made by Remington for the French navy. Could you comment?

Does this same technique work for the Uberti replicas? I have one in .22LR and it’s pull I measured at about 8.5#. At first it was a bear to shoot but I’ve since developed a trigger hand technique that works for me, as a lefty. Simply let the trigger hand relax, sight the bull, and then squeeze steadily. You can get away with this on a ,22, not sure about .38 or 45lc.

I don't understand the point of a single-shot rolling block pistol when they had revolvers in the same era.

I'd say it was because they were cheaper than revolvers, & the war department was notorious for being cheapskates.

Cost and you can probably put more volume of fire from a single shot over all Reloading single action revolvers is very slow In those days its tough to say, but if the single shot has a really good ejection system and a good open concept design, I would probably choose that And the rolling block could be made slimmer than a revolver.

@@bryanhiscocks6209 Yes, especially when the revolvers were cap and ball.
