When the streaks start I generaly simply take out the cartridge and gently rock it back and forth a few times to even out the remaining toner. This generally will give another 200 pages of print before it starts to fade again. Refillable cartridge generally I find has a lot more pages than the original. 3200 pages as opposed to 2500 on the original in my usage.
Dead right, Sean. Has the added advantage of "proving" that the cartridge you thought was fading out is, in fact, fading out. Because if the intitial stripes respond to the attempt to even out the toner, then you can be doubly sure it was fade out and not something else. And doubly sure you're focussing on the right cartridge
I use a local refiller, have been using them since they opened up, and have had no problems with them that were not fixed either immediately or next day. Zero quibbles, and the owner is very nice, friendly and almost always available to call on. Only wish they did printer ribbons, as those are expensive now. However his price for the refill service is literally one third of the price of the cartridge wholesale, and i get a generally better print, with denser black, and a much longer number of prints than from the OEM cartridge. I always ask if the cartridge is refillable when looking for new printers, it has a major influence on my choice of printer having the refill available. Strange enough a lot of the lower end printers are refillable, and many of the mid and top as well. those that simply do not refill correcly are dropped off the selection list, so leaving a lot of HP and Canon ( often the same printer cartridge just a different part number) as choice, then I look for one which I already use the cart so as to reduce on site holding.
