Great video! I'm in the middle of making a table out of big slabs of Osage orange and walnut. This will help 👍

Talk about beauty from ashes! Great restoration. Question: can you do an epoxy pour over spar urethane, or does it need to be bare wood? I made a rolling display booth and not sure the spar finsh on the top will wear well.

Great to hear Di and thanks so much for the continued support. As for your question I don’t know for sure but I would suggest the following. On a scrap piece of wood apply the urethane, let it dry, then apply the epoxy and see what happens. If it seams to be fine after a day or two I think your good. Just make sure to clean and A braid the surface of the existing top before you apply your Epoxy. With 300 to 400 grit sand paper.

Maybe they call it candlelight finish bcs when you’re using a candle typically everything around you is dark? I dunno...just spitballing here. Okay, I’ll go now. Great video as always.

Hi! Thank you for very useful video and great tips - immediate subscription! I tried to do something similar, but something went a bit off, so I’m kindly asking you for an advice: I have a wooden IKEA table. Its top made of several wooden blocks, so it’s not a single sheet of wood. I dyed it using water-based dye, and covered it with the first coat of polyurethane lacquer. The thing is that after applying the first coat I can see that the surface gone patchy - some wooden blocks are glossy and smooth, and some - dull and a bit rough to the touch, where the wood absorbed the lacquer. I was going to use fine sandpaper to even the surface after the first coat of lacquer. But now I’m a bit confused as I don’t know if I could damage the dye layer on the dull patches and expose the wood, as it is obviously very thin. What would you suggest to do in this case? I was going to do at least three coats of lacquer with sanding in between.

Do you need to sand them before applying last coat?

I just found your channel and I absolutely love everything that you’re doing here. As I was watching one of your other videos you mentioned the pressure treated wood that we have here in the Northwest? I’m intrigued and curious to find out where in the northwest you would be located because I live in Vancouver Washington N I’d like to know what is available to me without justLooking on Home Depot’s website

Great to hear scooter and thanks so much for watching and your support. Yep I’m a fellow PNWer. I’m up in North Seattle area. As for the PT lumber I mention that because a lot of people ask me why my lumber has little slits in it, which is something the mills do to penetrate the wood more easily. You can get pt lumber without the slits but it normally costs more. Thanks for watching and hope you subscribed.

Just my opinion, but the thumbnail of the before should be the finished product the finished product looks outdated to me but maybe that’s what you were going for the classic look. I’d love to see the before one epoxy or whatever you do it looks cool on the thumbnail.
