No. It's by the chip. It estimates how much ink is sucked out of the printhead and guesses how much ink was dumped into the maintenance tank. That is then written into the chip. So your idea will not work. You can not fool the chip.

Nope. At least no one has come up with a way to reuse them so far. They also have a chip that would have to be replaced.

You take the resetter and line up the resetter's pins to the chip. This was about refurbishing the cart.

Sure you can do that but the chip STILL needs to be reset. there is a process to do this even if you have to resets you cannot just reset the chip and pop it back in and expect it to be recognized. You need to put a second maintenance cartridge with a different chip so the printer is fooled as it sees a different chip code. It will record that code and then erase the previous code which is the one you just reset then you just swap them again and the printer will accept the reset repacked maintenance cart so not only do you need a second maintenance cart at this point in order to get the system to work the second maintenance cart could be a used one it doesn't really matter you just need to record a different ID code into the printer's memory so that it forgets the original one and that way will accept the one you just reset. It is a tricky process and they don't tell you how to do this when you buy the resetter. That why I am here.
