If you're residing in Pattaya, Jomtien, or any other part of Thailand, you might find the idea of flying a drone appealing. In the past, obtaining permission was a bit of a challenge, but now, it is more straightforward than ever to fly a drone legally in Thailand. I will guide you through a simple and hassle-free process to ensure you can enjoy flying your drone with complete peace of mind.
There are many opportunities to make fantastic videos here in Thailand as the beautiful landscape looks great from above. Jomtien Beach, Pattaya, Chang Mai... So many places to explore from the air.
NOTES:
All drones in Thailand need to be registered regardless of their weight.
In Thailand, flying above 90 meters or flying after sunset is prohibited.
The registration process can take up to 2 weeks and while it can be started in advance, it can only be finalised when you arrive in Thailand.

IMO, The best drones are the DJI brand but a good budget drone is the SJRC F11 which was the drone I used in my earlier videos (they are about £140 so ideal for a first drone). However, the SJRCs do not come with serial numbers so they are difficult to register without jumping through extra hoops. So maybe a DJI Mini 2 or 3 would be the best choice and you won't grow out of it as the quality of the cameras is excellent. Ok found it. The Drone Registration Process Our drone registration service will follow these steps; 1: Buy your Thailand drone insurance from us. 2: We will send a link to apply for the Thailand drone registration service, fill in the form and pay THB 1,498 online. This price includes tax and all government fees. 3: We will then submit your registration to CAAT, this can take around 2 weeks and can be done before you arrive in Thailand. 4: Upon your arrival in Thailand you will need to send us a photo of your immigration stamp in your passport, then we can process your NBTC registration, this can take 2-3 days. 5: We will send your CAAT and NBTC registration certificates once each step is complete. Once both CAAT and NBTC are done then the service is complete and you can legally fly your drone in Thailand.

My first time flying in Thailand, I did all that paperwork myself, it was a pain in the a**. Lots of misinformation and run around too. Then when I returned about a month and a half later, they had just implemented the OpenSky app. That was cool. I flew right over nana BTS/Sukhumvit area in the middle of the day and got some nice B-roll of the trains and buildings. My condo manager is super cool and wrote me the document saying I could launch from the rooftop. I will say though, the 90m ceiling is a bit of a drag, many of the buildings are higher than that in that area. Also, trying to get permission from certain popular malls along the river is annoying because they don’t seem to know drone laws and give you the run around such as telling you to contact the embassy or the police. I’ll be back in a couple of months so I will once again try to get a sunset shot of said mall and river front scenery. We’ll see how it goes. 🤷🏻‍♂️

@fromoneendofthailand

You would need to register both drones separately. However, you may have problems carrying more than two batteries on the plane on your flight over as the batteries need to be with your carry-on luggage, so I would suggest bringing only one drone with you. Not sure why you would want to bring two drones? If you go via the insurance company as suggested in the video, then once you have cover for two drones they will sort the registration for both drones with CAAT and NBTC.
