I’m trying to relactate and I’ve been pumping every 2-3 hours. Drops are just currently coming out. I have a manual pump and the elvie.. I don’t think nursing is an option for me because when I try to put her to my nipple she will NOT take it and begin to start crying. I think my only option is to pump right now.

Oh no I’m sorry it’s been so rough! I could definitely give you some support virtually. But I would try to get your hands on a “hospital grade pump” and I can help with “bringing a baby back to breast” too. The elvie is a great pump but not made to maintain supply or really to relactate. Try the Spectra or Medela sonata.

Great video, thank you for sharing. I’m constantly in the process of trying to increase my milk supply. I am 3 1/2 months postpartum, and my baby is refusing to latch to my breasts anymore which has caused a death in my supply. I am now exclusively pumping one thing that I noticed, however is that if I pump every two hours, I will only get a very small amount of milk for example around 40 ml. a few hours without pumping, like four hours, for example, then I will end up with a larger supply around 100 mls. Do I continue to pump every two hours? Does this mean that my breasts don’t fill fast enough?
@KimberlyAnn
@KimberlyAnn Год назад
Thanks for watching! Try pumping every 3 hours. 2 hours doesn’t give your body enough time to produce. But you might have what they call “small capacity.” It just means that you have to pump more often to achieve the same output daily. Someone with “Large storage capacity” might be able to maintain supply well only pumping 4 times a day. This is due to milk ducts/ductwork in the breast. I had smaller capacity. So my magic number was getting 6-7 pumps per day and I had good out put. Have you gotten a flange fitting? Keep pumping! Your supply should increase :)

I thoroughly enjoyed this video, super informative! I'm currently 5 weeks postpartum and had an emergency c-section and had issues with internal bleeding, HELLP, and hypertension which required me to be rehospitalized and put on a mag drip, after the mag drip I'm assuming it dried up my supply along with the other fluids it was pulling off my body. So here I am trying to pump still but am sort of at a standstill, getting maybe a half an ounce a day if it's a great day. Do you have any advice for this? I appreciate your help!

Thanks Kimberly for a great video. Relactation topic is one of the least discussed. Dear, i had an emergency c section in 37th week due to cholestasis. My baby's latch was very poor, she could not latch for long and was crying since the beginning. I had low supply, one month Postpartum i could get a maximum of 40 ml per day through pumping. It lasts for a month or so. She is my first child and 6 months old now. I have only drops left when sqeezing my breasts but not getting anything when pumping. Can i relactate now? And does new Medela wearable free style hands free work for relactation? It is written on the pump it is intermediate vaccume pump. Or Harmony the medela manual pump works for lactation? Thanks again and i need your advice and suggestions please.

Great question! Start by pumping every 3 hours with at least one pump at night. And pump for roughly 15-20. 10min is okay to but may take a bit longer. As you start to get drops/more ounces you can increase the time to 20-25 minutes or till you feel empty. 💛

You mentioned hands free pumps are not as good. My elvie stride says hospital grade and on the website it says it’s stronger than my spectra 2. Can you confirm or deny that? I’ve mainly been using my elvie stride and my spectra did not feel as strong. Please help 😊
@KimberlyAnn
@KimberlyAnn 2 года назад
I just looked at the website as well. Because I’m not familiar with the stride, haven’t used it or seen it in person. But it does say hospital grade and mentions 300 mmHg. It does say that it’s only “hospital grade 300 mmHg” in one cup set up. So it looks like it is hospital grade! Just only in one cup set up. So I would just keep that in mind. So per their instructions it should maintain your supply in one cup set up. The other hands free pumps do not claim to be hospital grade so therefore they may not maintain your supply adequately.

You have to keep pumping and latching you won’t see many results when you pump sometimes for a few weeks took me two - three. I’ve done it twice I’m currently on baby #4 and had several complications having 2 ounces when you pump is amazing ! Do not give up keep latching the baby an supplement with formula, ANY breast milk even drops is hands down beneficial! If you have not much now since it’s been a little bit since you wrote this it’s fine keep going but you have to pump even after your baby latches and feeds, just keep giving formula and your breast and pump an DRINK a lot ! Breast milk is primarily water ❤️🙏

Can baby body be used for relaxation with freemie hands free cup?
@KimberlyAnn

You could try it! I always recommend a wall plug pump, like the spectra s1 or s2 or the medela sonata.

How long do I have to establish my milk supply?
@KimberlyAnn
@KimberlyAnn Год назад
It really depends. But normally you should see milk in 2-3 weeks or so. Could be more could be less

@@KimberlyAnn thanks for responding! Does the first 2-3 weeks determine my long term supply (when hormones take over/regulate?) I wasn’t great about pumping/feeding on a schedule until about 7 weeks postpartum- is it too late to regulate to a higher volume?
@KimberlyAnn
@KimberlyAnn Год назад
The first 6 weeks usually determine the amount of supply you have. But you still have time get your supply up after that, it may just take longer or you may not see much of an increase. But it’s all case by case and doesn’t hurt to try!! :)

Thank you for saying what you said about relactating with the momcozy 😩.. I’m a week in and was thinking I should use my spectra for this instead. I gave birth 2/3 months ago and got thrown off by jaundice. Trying not to be discouraged is the hardest part. I’m gonna use my spectra now & see if that helps speed things up 🤍 thanks

Try the spectra! Unfortunately Momcozy just isn’t it when it come to relactation. Once you get that supply you can bring it back out.

I never fully dried up but I almost did, trying my hardest to get it back. I used to be an oversupplier
