I’m a welder and a wood worker. And I live by the words of “if something isn’t right you just fix it” there is nothing that your not skilled enough to do. Your just have to learn and try. And if you mess up then fix it or worse case restart! Now taking your time can help a lot because your less likely to make big/costly mistakes.

Nice renovation! As a tip for your future projects, always make sure to install door trim BEFORE baseboard, that way you won’t need to ever make that funky cut out on the door trim.

Paco Ramirez I understand your point but on his blog he says the insert easy $365. A typical shower surround is about 70 sq ft. Multiply that by a nice tile at $2 and it’ll cost you $140. Add in $20 for a nice thinset, $50 for accent tiles, $15 for grout and you’re still only at $225. So I disagree, the price would not have “gone through the roof” and I wouldn’t call a plastic insert a “better” way to achieve a sterile look.

@@Dglinski2 plus $60 for cement board, $50 for redguard, and all the extra labor involved and a lot more rental time for that tile saw. judging by how he speaks about this bathroom renovation I doubt he's done many so what he turned it into is good.

OmniPresent by no means am I trying to diminish the work done in the video. He did a quality job and it really does look clean. I think this whole video was a great documentation of him learning and I would’ve loved to see him try his hand at some tile. To which you’re right, it might have taken more time and a little bit more money but may even look better than how it does now.

IMPORTANT: Some popcorn ceilings can have asbestos in them, making it hazardous to remove. Get it checked before removing like he did.

We tried removing popcorn ceilings with the bag attachment, but what worked best for us was just attaching a dustpan to a better quality scraping tool and emptying the contents straight into a trash can.

The white color in this small bathroom make' s it visually bigger and brighter. Those long, narrow tiles on floor gives the effect that this bathroom is a longer then it is. So technically you chose the right pallet of colors. And i admire that you did the most work yourself than actually hiring contractor or a handy man. Great job dude, i'm proud of you.

one thing to remember when installing a tub..is to aupport the bottom of the tub..i use spray foam in a can. lay a decent amount under the middle of underside of the tub. not to much. then place tub inplace before the foam is hardened. then put some weight in the tub untill the foam is dry. this will help prevent cracking of the tub later!

I don't think it looks to sterile at all with the pops of color (black). I would suggest pulling the black towards the front a little though, as it is right now it's all in the back.. so like a black hand towel and black soap dish/pump, toothbrush holder, etc on the vanity top would do it, just a little to balance it out from front to back. High contrast black and white art on the wall above the hand towel with a black frame maybe. Little decorating things to pull it all together.

I agree and I think the nice thing about doing it this way, you can always switch to a different accent color and change everything out. I usually try to do this with a neutral bathroom and switch out all the accessories every season to keep things interesting. If you pick a color , you are stuck with it.

Don't do this... Leave it to the professionals. This might've been adequate for a normal room (not really) but for a bathroom with wood, moisture and absolutely not waterproofing, this is an expensive waste of time and can even cause more expensive and dangerous damage when the wood rotts

Wow, construction standards are so weird in the US. No water membrane/moisture barrier, plastic hoses for plumbing _inside_ wooden walls, screws right through the shower wall into wood, screws throughout the whole room without sealant. It's like you guys want to get mold and other moisture issues. I'm not knocking this guy specifically, he seems like a great guy and the room looks nice, but the way Americans build houses is just... unbelievable.

I’m glad here in America we have choices to choose from, ranging from very affordable to extreme luxury. Not what I chose for our remodel but I guess it depends on your budget. You certainly can do a lot on a small budget. Very nice given the choices made.

For the trim on the side you can over cut your new dry wall trace it along the old wall and recut for a perfect fit. [[Well as perfect as drywall can get]] This also works great for hole patching!!! I hope this helps!

@@selenascott7278 Contractors were allowed to use up their stock so you can find asbestos in mid-80s properties. Best to always get it lab-tested.

Mastic type adhesives will mildew. Thin-set in moisture areas please. Also (since you're plugging Home Depot) I highly recommend Fusion-Pro grout. Self-sealing for life (no expensive, tedious grout sealer on initial install as well as recommended follow-up every couple of years).

Bathroom remodelling process in the US look very different to the UK!

*usually* we waterproof our restrooms, I thought it was really weird that he didn’t but when we go to remodel our restroom using this video as inspiration, we know to add the water proofing elements ☺️

BRNK I’m from the US, that’s what I’m saying. That in the US we’re supposed to waterproof & I’m not sure why this guy didn’t.

You should try shark bites for the plumbing. Super easy and makes you comfortable doing shower plumbing.

Heck no. Was on a project at a million+ dollar residence and of course had to get a faulty shark bite. Happy to have insurance, not happy to have a claim. I feel any good plumber would stay far away from shark bites. My opinion for whatever it's worth

just had one done in Nov 18, took out a cast iron tub, that I couldn't reuse as the hook up would be on the wrong side, it was a bad arrangement that I corrected to the same arraignment you have, kept it white did a similar tub and surround that you used, my Plumbing contractor did the whole thing for me, while he redid my whole 1950's house Galvanized plumbing to Pex plumbing, Love the bathroom and really love my plumbing

Shouldn’t you check to make sure your popcorn ceiling do not have asbestos before removing? It’s best to leave them alone if they do

Yes, I'd say most new homes are mostly wood. That is for cost savings compared to brick homes and to build faster. Properly built wood structure homes can still last a long time. My house is 100years old and still in great shape and some around me are much older.
