We love working on Toyota vehicles because they are so easy to work on. This amazing 4Runner is no exception. We painted this rear bumper in-house, paint to match our customer's SUV. Please visit us at revemoto.com if you are in search of a painted 4Runner front or rear bumper.
Alright so let's get right down to it!
TOOLS NEEDED:
You will need a socket wrench with a 10mm socket. You will need a panel clip removal tool but you can substitute a flat-head screwdriver.
PROCESS:
This is a relatively easy bumper to remove. There are six 10mm bolts on the Toyota 4Runner rear bumper as well as several plastic clips. The bolts and clips are very easy to locate and remove. Make sure you do not misplace them! (We usually have a box lying around where we can throw all these small pieces into.) Once these are all removed you can begin to remove the clips and bolts on the side of the wheel well. Very straightforward removal process. You may have some trouble if you are using a flathead screwdriver but keep at it to remove the clips. If you haven't already guessed it, we have to remove the top bolts. Open the liftgate to expose the 12 or so bolts on the top. There should be one bolt on the top corners but the rest are above the stop pad. Remove all the bolts and dismount the bumper. To dismount the bumper, pull it from each end and work your way towards the middle.
