One of the first jobs in any van conversion is to remove the bulkhead that separates the cab from the living area. This opens up the space and allows for a walk through. In this video we go through the tools required and the method we use.

Would you put insulation under the carpet to hide the fixing holes.? Or will it not make a difference

How much do you think the bulkhead for this specific van weighs?

How are you managing to insulate your current conversion during this really cold weather?
@vanlifeconversions
@vanlifeconversions 3 года назад
It is good to warm up and dry out the van with a heater and dehumidifier while in the insulation stage to ensure there is minimal vapour to start with. We then use a mixture of closed cell foam and PIR insulation board for the insulation before creating a vapour barrier

Very good vid unfortunately my vans rivets are sunk to a lower level than the bulk head and I cannot get to them with a grinder. I've tried every method seen on you tube.

Drill the head of the rivet. It will pop of. Grind then left over away

@@Teddy_Bass Hi thanks for the reply, yeah ages ago, can't drill out as they are steel and refuse to drill can't get a grinder into the small dip in which they live. so frustrated I bought a Dremel to see if the blades are small enough to go in the dip. I have yet to experiment. Thanks though!!

I can’t get into my van via side door or rear door. I think the only way is to remove the bulkhead but from the front? Is that even possible? Ford Transit 2008 MK7 van. Really struggling as I need van for work.

You can buy the Genuine Plastic Trim s from Fiat to cover the B Pillar gaps I fitted mine yesterday in about 30 minutes You just need a VIN number of a camper spec van to get the correct part numbers

I understand why people remove the bulkhead for space and access but I don’t understand why they value that over their safety. In the event of an accident everything in the back will come flying forward or pushed forward and probably kill you. You’ve no protection. Even in a car anything loose becomes a missile in an accident and the most innocuous item can kill you, ask any fireman.

I agree, I'm watching videos like this to do the reverse - to see where a replacement bulkhead will go in my van. Having a solid metal bulkhead will be better for safety, insulation and air con in the cab.
