Ugh, thanks so much! You’re a life saver. Yesterday, I’d gotten stuck with a ring that a friend of mine had gifted me around 17 years ago. I had to sleep with it on even though I don’t like sleeping w/jewelry on. Now thanks to your video I was able to remove it. What would we do without people like you and RU-vid? 😅
Thanks for the video, this 100% worked! Jammed my ring finger playing basketball, and it was way more swollen than the finger in this video. My brother-in-law was completely convinced there was no way, but we did this trick, put a little vaseline on the dental floss above the ring, did a quick rewrap once it was mid-swelling and off it came! Amazing. This was a great life hack! Tip: We did the attempt after submerging the finger in an ice-water bath for ten minutes. I think it helped a bit.
who ever discovered this is a life saver!!!! I'm 9 months pregnant and my ring was stuck dealing with the swelling! it was real bad! I thought I was going to Loose my wedding ring finger!! 😭 I finally did this and got it out! thank you so much for your video it saved my finger!!!
Brian's wife here... All I can say is YAY!!!! It worked. I was so afraid that I would have to cut my wedding ring, and sadly my hubby passed away earlier this year so it couldn't be replaced.. I developed edema and my fingers swelled up.. and on bad days, it was becoming painful.. so bless you
Hi Mrs Dougan. I’m really sorry for your loss of Brian but I’m glad this video helped you save the ring which undoubtedly helps you remember all the fantastic times you had together. Glad to be of service. ❤️
I had my beautiful ring stuck on my finger for a day, came across your video tried it and oh my goodness IT WORKS along with patience, I had to wrap it like 3 times but it did work, my ring was saved, thank you for sharing. May God bless you.
Didn't work the first time my wife tried it, BUT we waited a day for the swelling to lessen. We also used a shoelace instead of dental floss (it dug into her skin less). Removed all 3 bands of her wedding ring with no problem. Thank you for the video.
Thank you so much, much appreciated. I didn't believe the technique would work until I saw it here because the finger was so swollen. Tried it and it worked!
This worked! A nurse on the call line said it was either try dental floss or go to emergency and get the ring cut off. I didnt want to cut the ring, so I tried this while watching the video. I had to ice (with a bit of dawn soap in water) my finger in several times in between, but this technique saved my new ring that got stuck and my finger swelled around it! Thank you it was helpful seeing how to wrap an actually swollen finger and remove the ring.
I literally just copied your video and got my ring off. My finger was in agony, actually thought I'd need to have it cut off by someone before I went crazy! Thankyou so much.
Thank u soooo much as this video helped us to remove a ring stuck in my friends finger and irt was swollen but it came out with in a minute after using this technique..Kindly keep us charging by posting such awesome videos..Thanks once more..
Thank you so much for posting this video. We tried for hours but nothing seemed to work and my finger was getting worse. I placed my hand in ice water and then elevated for a few minutes to reduce swelling and tried your dental floss method. It took a few tries but each time we had progress and was able to get it off. Thank you!!!
I remembered mom recently couldn’t get her 63rd year wedding ring off and a friend used winded and floss. Voilà! Now my turn. Needed some reference to jog my memory. I sometimes swell up and this time I was attempting to take off a ring and my finger turned purple. Thanks for your help. I did use windex which popped it right off.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU I have surgery coming up and I knew if I couldn't get it off on my own they would cut it off before surgery. I am so happy that you posted this, it was a life saver!!! :-) My ring is saved!!!
It works. Thank you. Somehow bruised my ring finger and it was just swelling up. Took three winds, got to the knuckle on the second. Quite painful but worth it.
Thank God for this video! I tried on my great grandmothers wedding ring and it got stuck and didn't really want to get the 100 year old ring cut off my finger!
Thank you for sharing that with us!! Just to add a suggestion I read elsewhere, because you started wrapping at the ring. Instead, they suggest you start wrapping above the swollen area, above the knuckle somewhere: "Wrapping from the ring outward traps the blood and causes the finger tip to swell. Instead start wrapping from a point past the knuckle and work towards the ring. Then use something blunt (not a safety pin) to push the string under the ring. Finally unwind as shown. This way will give you better compression because you're not working against the blood." That may have happened to you, causing your finger to be more swollen than necessary so that you had to do more wrapping above the ring to get the finger to be smaller so you could get the ring over it. Well, thanks again! Looks like it hurt! some!!
My finger was swollen like that and this video gave me courage to try again with the dental floss and I was able to do it all by myself and it hurt but not a lot and most important, I got the ring off!!!
It really works, I was wearing my mother's engagement band since I was 16 and now I'm 60 and I did gain a few pounds. I know I would have problems removing the band and it was starting to hurt my finger. I tried vaseline and soap...did not work. I tried the dental floss and, yes it hurts a little, and my finger is now swollen but it worked, the band is off and I guess I'll wear it now around my neck together with my father's engagement band.
Thank you very much! It helped me bring my ring out of my swollen finger. I had to rewrap twice to bring the ring out. I had to struggle a bit but it was all worth it.
Thank you so much for your video. I just finished doing the same procedure on my pointer finger. I have a huge cut and when pulling the string I tried avoiding the string from going into the open cut wound. Hurt like hell but I kept doing your procedure and finally it got off. Again thank you
Your video gave me hope. I've watch multiple videos where they've used the same method as this but didn't think it was going to work because their fingers weren't as swollen as your wife's. I tried it again today after many attempts but it worked. 1 ring off and 1 more to go .. waiting for my finger to cool down before doing another one.
Thank you so much!!! Today I tried this trick and it really worked. But had little pain in finger as finger was swollen so applied shampoo along with it.
Will my ring size make a difference from getting it sized and bought at 70-80 degrees vs 95? I’m wanting to buy a ring but I’m a little nervous because I read hands can swell. Btw I’m in Texas so idk
Broo thanks. My friend got a ring stuck and his finger was soo freaking purple. But stayed calmed and wind it up 3 times until he was able to pull it. It's painful just be patient😅
please please please dont wind away from the ring start at the finger tip and wind toward the ring feed the floss under the ring and unwind its so much easyer
Literally it's the same thing, only your way means u have to feed the floss when it's tightly wrapped around your finger.... So if it takes time to get the floss under the ring, you're suffering unnecessarily.
