Finally, someone does a video on the legit and fasted way to deal with locking lug nuts when they don't have the key. Thank you, you have restored my faith in humanity.
I watched other videos where removal was done with welding, grind edges, use a special tool but yours was so simple and with less effort, did not require buying additional tool because I have the right socket size. I spent 5 min removing all 4 lugs. Thank you.
I knew about the trick but couldn't get the lug nut out after. That trick with the bigger socket and a bolt worked perfectly! Originally tried to get it out in a vice with a screwdriver, and it wouldn't budge, even put a torch to it. Thank you!
Amazing technique, worked so easily I'm amazed people bother spending the money and hassle on keyed lug nuts. 21mm for $6.49 on a chevy silverado and 20 minutes for 4. I just replaced them with standard lugs, maybe if I ever find the key I'll reuse them. Thanks for the video, saved me a lot of time and PITA.
It worked for me!!!...Many thanks for this tip...BTW I didn't have a 12 point socket that fit as needed but I had a 6 point impact socket and it worked perfectly!...thanks again!!!
Hi sir, Thank you for this great video. I just removed 2 of my winter tires on rims and put on my summer tires with rims. When I tried to remove the 3rd winter tire, the security key chipped and slipped and would not stay in the security lug nut. My lug nuts are deeply set into my rims, so I did not think that I could get Vice Grips onto them. Packed my tools away and went back into the house to look for somebody with a genius idea. You are that man! Thank you for sharing this idea with us and for explaining it so carefully and clearly. Thank you also for the warning not to use it for adding to an ill gotten tire collection! I will go back outside after supper and have full confidence that I will have success with your great idea. Thank you again! Praise God for your great help and Him guiding you to help us!
@@SeventheKiid Sorry to reply so late, I bought several 12 point sockets of sizes that I thought would be a very snug fit over top of my security lug nuts. When I got home, I tested which one was the closest to not quite fitting over the security nut, then, with a big hammer, I pounded that socket until it cut it's way onto the security lug nut. Then I connected my breaker bar, then I un screwed the security nut. I had to put the socket and nut into a vice and use a screwdriver and the hammer to get the security nut out of the socket, then back onto the next security lug nut. I broke a few sockets but had bought just enogh to get the job done. I replaced all the security lug nuts with regular lug nuts that fit my rims. Again, thanks to the genius who made this video, without his clear explanation, I would not be able to do this !
Great vid! Found a washer around lock nut wen I removed it using yur method. Now, the washer prevents me frm banging out the lock frm the socket. This is a toyo highlander. Didn’t expect to find a washer (can’t remove washer) in the equation! Any suggestions? Thank you and keep these great vids coming!👍🏻
@Rudy S Machado : I'm late, i know. Got vice grip pliers??? 🗜️or ✂️ 🔩 Hammer, flat point chisel???🔨🪛 Get that washer with the pliers and lock it with it, pliers can be straight or aline with the nut and socket ♐, or sideways ♑. Sideways → _Ω_ or ♑ or Streihtg → ¢ ⟩•⟨ or ♐. ( Ω ¢ ← lugnuth w washer. ) ( _ _ or ⟩•⟨ ← vice grip pliers. ) Well, if you can tight the pliers to something safe let's say... "Then you hit the edge of the socket with the chisel and Hammer... Outwartds of course..." 💥👁️ 👀 👁️✨ 🙈 🙉 Haaaaaaaa 🗣️ 💦 Haaaaaa ModafaaKAAAAAA. 🙀 → Heey SIIMP, safety fiiirst..... 😹😹😹😹😹😹😹😹😹😹😹😹
I think that some Toyota vehicles use a flat space in the wells in their rims. So you need the washer and the lug nut to be very flat on the contact parts. My Toyota Sienna is not like that, it uses regular conical faced lug nuts that match with the conical wells in their rims. I heard about the flat wells and washers when shopping for winter tires for my Sienna
I really enjoyed your video! That’s funny that’s a Nissan because I have my 2019 Nissan Maxima SR that I don’t have my lock so I have to get them off or drive an hour and a half to the dealership and they said they’ll take them off for me for nothing. I think I’ll have to dig through all my sockets I’m sure that I have one of those sizes hopefully I do😊Of course I’ll have to double check it to make sure that size would be good for me but I believe it is great video or even how to get the old lock off of the socket😊
thanks man...driving around now looking for cars that have broken down and get the alloys...who needs a you tube channel lol..just a hammer and a trolley jack
BMW doesn't have a clue what size wheel lock they put on at factory, their only solution was bring my car in and charge me $150 per wheel to drill them out, LOL,,,, don't think so, thank you for the video, I will need a bigger socket but you have shown me the way>
Great video - 1 question. 19mm was the size to fit over the wheel security lock. What was the size of the longer socket you used when you tapped the wheel security lock out of the 19mm socket?
here is an old mechanics trick slam the socked on the ground so the flat side hits the ground, may take 2 to 3 times , sometimes i time will do it. the shock expands the socket so the lock pops out.
Had a service and not recently and I do my own brakes ect. The mot guy put my wheels back on super tight out of spite. Used my key on it and it broke because they put it on so tightly. I'm so pissed off.
Good video I bought a car from Scotland had it shipped all the way down to the south of England and the spare wheel is knackered and I can’t get the wheels off the car anyway so and you can’t buy a space saver tire for a space saver wheel it’s £500 for the wheel and tire 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧👍👍
If this doesn't work for me ...does the dealership have a method of getting these locks off. I'm trying to get new tires and I don't have the key from the previous owner.
Hello, previous dealership tighten my wheel lock too tight, my mechanic can’t unlock the wheel lock even with the key. My mechanic said he could break the wheel lock. Any solution? Thank you so much
@@KITS_Auto_and_Truck_Repair but I found the replacement key on Amazon for like 30 bucks but there's enough of these second-generation liberties in my town and around they got all have the same locking key so I'll just ask somebody when I seen that the gas station or something like let me use your key real quick lol
