You are my hero!! I used a teflon sheet instead of a paper bag and the tape stuck to teflon so I didn't have to pull the tape at all. Still, I wouldn't have even thought of heating rhe adhesive. My mom put double sided tape under a rug to keep it still, and the tape didn't stick to the rug, but stuck hard to almost brand new carpet (less than 2 years old). It's been grating on my nerves for over a year and just now I reached my "I can't take this anymore" point. The tape is completely up. Thank you so much!!!
THANK YOU!!! It worked PERFECTLY to remove double sided carpet tape from my carpeting. I placed it there to keep the corner of an area rug from being a trip hazard. This technique was EASY AND QUICK! Thank you So much for posting this! I used my iron on the Low/Synthetic setting. It was quick and painless. 🙏🏼🙌🏼
THANK YOU!!! Used a Whole Foods paper bag and an iron, and the tape stuck to the bag and then the rest peeled right off! Saved hundreds of dollars and hundreds of hours!
Thank you so much for posting this video. I tried many things to remove carpet tape and nothing worked except what your instructional video shows. I really appreciate your help! I restored my carpet this morning thanks to you.
THANK YOU! I used Alien Tape on a runner over carpet walkway. It was UGLY when I took the runner up. I used Parchment Paper since it was all I had on hand. WORKED! Appreciate your sharing this information.
Thank you!!!! The iron really worked on this carpet tape even after peeling off the white, the clear sticky part was still on and I thought my carpet was permanently damaged. This totally worked!
This video helped so much! I was wondering if I would damaged my carpet trying to fight with this adhesive tape but after I watched this video I followed the exact steps and it worked perfectly! You def have to make sure it’s hot enough and it literally melts the tape and comes right off! Thank you for sharing!!!!! I used LOW SYNTHETIC SETTING & ironed over here for like 3 -5 minutes and it came right off.
U just saved my sanity. I thought my giant, super absorbent, sixty FREAKING dollar dog rug that I spent a year talking myself into buying was ruined by carpet tape that no doubt used surgical glue as adhesive. Came right off. Good on u sir, thanks!
Thank you so much for this. I am moving house tomorrow and got a rug up and the adhesive strip was stuck to the carpet! All removed really quick and simple and most importantly it worked
Same problem except mine is an area rug that I love. Washed it and didn’t think the residue was bad, but is collecting dirt in a couple spots. I’ll definitely give this a try. Thank you.
Fantastic. Thanks, worked for me last night though carpet is still faintly tacky where the weeks-ago-applied-tape's been lifted off, so I will try passing a steam mop with microfiber pad over it and see how that goes. If that doesn't work I will spray diluted washing liquid in hot water as per another RU-vid vid on the same problem but nevertheless I'm very pleased at the initial result.
Flipping heck I've got as much as you on very similar carpet and couldn't get it off. I've been watching so many videos but either they show tiny area's but mines bad just like this and thought I'd never be able to remove it. I haven't got an iron I have a steamer but hopefully will do the same thing. What a nightmare the tape is and it took off a load of pattern from my new rug when I lifted it. This tape should come with a warning. Even my feet are sticking to it. Great for rugs but a bitch to remove. I hope this works 💪🏽
Brilliant idea - I've been looking at buying chemical remover but I'm an asthmatic and all the commercial solutions available will affect my breathing. Many thanks for this.
I had the same problem but I put parchment paper all over the areas on my carpet that still had old gooey adhesive from the carpet tape and then I applied the hot iron to the top of the parchment paper and it worked, the parchment paper pulled up the majority of old adhesive.
I put silver aluminum duct tape on the carpet as a temporary 'electrical grounding' mat... and a week later it's shredded and cannot be removed. Have you ever tried to remove silver aluminum 'duct' tape from carpet? Now, however,I realize i SHOULD HAVE put standard duct tape on carpet first, and covered it with the flimsy aluminum tape layer. that way it can be removed due to the lasting integrity of the (underneath layer of) duct tape fabric. Live and learn. thanks for this video which showed me how standard duct tape CAN be removed. peace, carol
Try 99% isopropyl!! I had duct tape stuck to a shag carpet and the tape was pulling it out. I poured some isopropyl on to it and it came off like nothing 👍👍👍
