This is an easy process but it always helps to see someone else do it first.

Very helpful video. Thank you for posting. This is exactly what’s going on with my icemaker.

Thankyou, removed mine and it was a broken wire. Really appreciate you making the video saved me hundreds of dollars.

Thanks for your video. Same ice maker goes in many different frig models. I would add that if the coating on the ice tray is intact you may think about repair. The coating (teflon???) on mine was badly peeling off. Entire unit straight into the garbage after recording the m/n.

Thanks for the step by step removal. Your description is exactly my problem, corroded heating element, plus the non-stick coating on the mold is failing. Ordering a new ice maker. Thank you.

My bar has broken, so ice just fills the whole freezer up 😂

Had the same issue. Ice maker not in use. But making a grinding noise every 10 minutes. I followed your instructions and just removed the darn thigh. Thx much.

You don't have to remove the two top screws. Just loosen enough and lift up.

Thank you for this video! I never wanted an ice maker, it's a big waste of space. I plan on doing this, but are there any other steps to take, to seal up the any hoses or the electrical plug? I never had the water line connected to my fridge, because I really didn't want an ice maker and couldn't find a fridge that didn't have one. Thanks for this great video!

How do you clean it? Can you soak it?

do you have to put a cover over the connection if you are going to totally disconnect it, if so where would you get one? Thanks

Do you need to turn off the water supply if you take it out?
@skiidahonorthsouth
@skiidahonorthsouth 2 года назад
No, it is not physically connected and is triggered by voltage from icemaker. It is a good standard practice to disconnect power (In this case I would be comfortable not)
@Gilgamesh39
@Gilgamesh39 Год назад
@@skiidahonorthsouthhow does it get water for the ice if it's not connected?
@skiidahonorthsouth
@skiidahonorthsouth Год назад
@Gilgamesh39 Icemaker closes a circuit via relay, opening a water solenoid valve, it allows water to flow through a short hose above the ice tray. No physical contact prevents back-flow and is required on such machines. Likewise the valve requires power to open, unplugging the icemaker prevents any ability for water to flow.

Thanks for the video. I'm about to replace one of these. What camera are you using? The video quality is fantastic.

If you remove the ice-cube maker, what's the best way to seal the holes left by the screws?

I am having issues with my ice maker. It had been leaking but then started clicking. I took it out and let the freezer compartment come to room temp to see if the input was frozen. I put the ice maker back and now it just clicks. I am wondering if you have any ideas. Could this be the input valve not opening? Or what other things?

Do you have to shut the water off before removing the Ice Maker? It seems like water will come poring out when the ice maker is removed.
@skiidahonorthsouth
@skiidahonorthsouth 2 года назад
No. Not physically connected. Valve in fridge is normally off, on when ice maker sends voltage via relay.

Can I just unplug it ? I live in a rental and don't want to remove it, but it is not hooked up to water and will still try to run at times.

if you flip the bar up it should turn it off. you shouldn't have to unplug it.
