HOW TO REMOVE AND INSTALL (REPLACE) MERCEDES BENZ E350 COOLANT THERMOSTAT EASILY 

Tip: the M276 coolant pump has a large drainage bolt at its base. If you remove the coolant reservoir cap, undo the drain bolt and squeeze the top hose you can drain the coolant without having to get under the car. Useful if you don't have a ramp or lift. The down side is that you will need to remove the drive belt to get access; you can drain the coolant into a small container for re-use.
