Haha I thought I was the only one who had broken handles on Kia Optima. Still debating whether I should have local Kia dealership install them for me, I ordered the handles online. Very good video thanks.
Thanks for the video. The Kia dealer wants $40.00 for handles $160.00 per side Installed! Both up front door handles broke off on my 2009 Kia. I always check "you tube" before going to a mechanic.

I had to replace my side mirror in the past and it was a huge pain to get the little panel off - now I know why xD The latch cable is no longer working for my outside driver door handle (I can hear it bouncing around) so I need to replace that bit, and I just started laughing when watching you take the door panel off and talk about all the wires to watch for - I don't even have power door locks on this thing, so my task might be a lot easier xD

I'd like to point out that it is not necessary to remove the whole door panel if you need to replace the interior handle. The smaller trim panel near the handle can be removed to allow access to the handle screw. There is a slot on the front edge for a prying instrument (screwdriver, etc.) Just be sure not to pry at the rear of the small panel to avoid breaking the hook located there.

+entharion2 Yeah, but if you do take off the door panel it is essential that you remove the trim panel in order to put the door panel back on after. Figured that out after 20 minutes of frustration. :)
Agreed that it's not necessary to remove the whole door. I tried both. Initially just the small door handle panel, but turned out there's just not much room to work without the whole door off. So then i took the whole door off, watching this video it's actually surprisingly easy to take the whole door off. One thing is that I spent the longest time installing those 2 connection cables (5:10min in this video) back, aligning with the holes in the new door handle, took me forever.. finally found some way but definitely annoying... One other note, the replacement part I bought from Ebay has a little flaw - there are 3 alignment hooks on the back of the new door handle that once pushed into the door, should allow door to slide to the right and hence align with the door handle screw hole.. the Ebay part's alignment hooks are too thick, so can't slide to the right and align screw hole. I had to sand them down, and in the end decided just to take a needle nose plier just snip them off, since they're really there for alignment only.. this took another 30 min of my time...
So. My fob works, but my locks don't. I can hear the mechanism moving but they don't lock or unlock. Once I manually lock all 4 doors I can activate the alarm with the fob. Do I need to replace the motors for the locks? How do I do that?
Hi! Can you make a video of how to remove the cover of the shift for the 2007 KIA SPECTRA? My daughter bought a used car a month ago. but a couple days ago. she had a flat tire it was park of course. now it stays park because she can't move her shifter. it's very much stuck.
Try saturaing the lock area with a wd40 type lubricant and a make shift rod to direct the spray via the wind all the while pulling the door mechanism and the locking mechanism ..and 30 minutes later of activity and oil penetrating door lock popped free..hmmm..after all said and done and taking into account that it was working prior to that ...patient , good luck
