In this video I show you how to replace a broken or worn out drive belt on your riding lawn mower. If your Mower won't move forward or backwards, a broken drive belt is most likely the problem. In addition, even if the drive belt isn't broken and looks to be fully intact, it could be stretched to the point that it isn't engaging the rear trans-axle pulley, or it may even be twisted. A major symptom of a stretched drive belt will be little to no movement from your mower, and a loud squealing/squeaking noise. If your drive belt somehow became twisted, your tractor's forward and reverse gears may be reversed. If not fixed immediately, the belt will either stretch or break. A drive belt will usually break if it is worn out from years of use. However, a mechanical problem or failure can also cause a drive belt to break. Inspect your lawn tractor and trans-axle thoroughly before replacing your belt, otherwise, if a mechanical problem is present, it will just happen again. In my case the belt was just worn out after 15 years of heavy use. It was the original belt on this unit, and the fact that it lasted that long was very impressive. This is a relatively easy job, a lot easier than you may initially think. The job simply involves removing your deck, which is just removing a few cotter pins, loosening a couple belt guides, removing three bolts total, and slipping the belt over a couple of pulleys. Nothing to fret over. I hope you find this video useful, and if you do, kindly leave a thumbs up and Subscribe.
