This video is a great resource for reviewing the assembly sequence. It's easy to forget the details after not doing a rear drum job for several years. - Replacing rear brake drums are a pain in the ... rear. There are several parts to keep track of, clean, and lube. - There are major parts and springs that must be put in a certain way. You must remember the proper sequence when reinstalling the parts. - Notice: the adjuster wheel mechanism on the left rear is installed and is turned in a different direction than the one on the right rear. - And finally, the long spring is a pain to stretch and fit into the proper hole on the first attempt. - Double check your work!

the drum won't come off if the parking brake is on. also the drum can be severely damaged using the bolt hole removal method, so if you are re-using the drum, pound on it with a rubber mallet from all around.

I had issues with this too on exactly the same car here and the problem was that for the drum brakes, you are better off buying them from the dealer, the aftermarket specially the ones from orreylis are not made to the same specs as the OEM, all you have to do is compare them side to side and you can see the problem anyways I removed the orreylis junk and put the OEM ones and they worked perfectly. Notice on this video how the brake pads on the new orreylis brakes one is thicker than the other on the OEM both are the same, for the front brakes the aftermarket are fine but I would trust auto zone over orreylis. Also with the OEM installation is easier because everything works perfectly, the way I look at it rear brakes last a long time so spending 93 dollars at the dealership is not a bad deal.

nice video. I like your series of vids. Some things I like to do: 1. Work one side at a time, the other side is a good reference which you've mentioned 2. Whenever I remove a spring, I find the matching pair from the brake kit right away and keep them together so I make sure I install the correct one. The driver vs. passenger side springs may have subtle differences. 3. when installing springs, I wear heavy gloves. if you lose grip, you may lose a chunk of meat from your finger if a spring hook catches your hand

Here's what parts stores often do: set diameter to the number stamped into the drum, so you are getting your last/final resurfacing - they want to sell more parts. Never mind that they should make a minimal cut to verify concentricity and if that's good just stop there. Shops that operate like this will also forget to chamfer the edge [a quick/small 45 cut is ok] so you don't score shoes going on or slice your fingers open.

I have a question. My car had really bad brake drums and brake shoes. I decided to replace the springs and the drums and brake shoes. When I got on the freeway my car started shaking. I took it back to the mecanic. He told me to replace the front rotor cs they were bad. I replace everything rotors and brake pads. I got on the road and the shaking is still there. Once again my mecanich replace everything again rear drums front rotor. The shaking is still there when i step on the brakes at highspeed. Now my mecanic is saying that my wheel hubs are bad !!! Im confused becuase the shaking wasnt there before eventhough the drums were really bad the shaking wasnt there. If u have an oppinion about this problem let me know pls
