This video is fake. The lid was already open when the girl in the video was opening it. The lid is extremely hard to open. I have been trying to open it for three days and it’s still stuck:)

I just opened the box today. After many tries, I hunted up the video, which looked too easy. So I tried one more thing-I placed my fingers at the button end of the pitcher and pulled up; the end where my fingers were popped up and then the other end popped up, which released the lid. I wanted to try this before going for a screwdriver. It worked, thanks to some help from Above:). Now I will have to see how things go from here.

How the heck does this lid open? I have broken a fingernail trying - worked on this thing for over 15 minutes then gave up. Is it stuck? Is it just a crap design? I chose the Zero Water to replace my Brita b/c of a review of your product and how effective it is in filtering. Disappointed to say the least when I can't even get the lid off.

Ok, I had the same problem. Had to take a flat-head screwdriver to the lid and pry around the edges to separate it a tiny bit. Then I pushed in AND up at the same time on the white thumb tab, and was able to remove the lid. I agree it shouldn’t take all that to remove the lid. Had I done a little research beforehand, I wouldn’t have bought it.

I have severe arthritis in my hands and wrists. No matter what i did, i could not get the new pitcher open. Finally, after reading the comments, i carefully used a screwdriver to push the button, and it worked! After putting the lid on and taking it off a few times, it works fine, but they should tell you that or make it easier to open. I wonder how many returns over this? If i had not read to try a screw driver, i would have return it, terribly disappointed! I tested the RO water from the store (pump yourself into a 3-5 gal bottle). It read 080! Then, i filter it again through a PUR PLUS filter just to be sure because they don't always service the water station at WalMart like they should. It was still 80! The water around here is contaminated by lead, arsenic, and other interesting goodies. It was a mining area, also logging, and a huge amount of fires. So the fire retardant is probably in the aquapher. Well i filtered the doubly walMart RO filtered water through the Zero, and it came out, "0.0". Ha! No way could it cheat. I also measured in paper cups, and it was .85. I am going to test city water at our church tomorrow and bring some home. I know all of the water in this area, but especially in our 2 local towns is extremely high in calcium. We lived in one of the outer areas and needed our toilet fixed right after moving in. When the guy was done, it leaked. I told him it was leaking and would further rot the floor, but he said to wait. There were so many minerals that it would seal itself in a few hours. It did! I bet some place under ground, there are some interesting caves!

Same. They need a specific job that entails people taking the top off until it works properly. I know, it's a stupid job. But it's ridiculous to send out a product that people can't use and have to come here to watch a video looking for help. And this video was useless. I found the answers I was looking for here in the comments. Come on Zero Water, step up and release a product that we can actually use out of the box.

Trash design, with the small reservoir the thing needs to be opened multiple times a day. The lid is unnecessarily hard to open. The design is basic, press the thing and pull up lid but due to cut rate manufacturing process and parts sizing it’s hard to get it to open without spilling water that’s already in there Update: After about 2-3 weeks of using it multiple times a day and removing the lid couple times a day it's gotten way easier to the point where it's no longer an issue. Still I shouldn't have to use 2 hands when it could be done with 1 hand and not having to think about pressing the knob in and pulling up. Now good luck removing the TDS reader from that spot...

I am afraid i will damage it if i try a screwdriver. My button does not push in. I did try a screwdriver after this note... carefully! I pushed in and it came open easily! 3 tries and it started to work without the driver. I guess my fingers are just too shot. They are very bad. It filtered my reversed osmosis water to 0. Reverse osmosis should be 0, but it was 80 to 85! Even after filtered through a pure plus filter, it was 80. That is not bad, but it seems pretty odd. That filter has only had 24 cups of RO filtered water in a clean dispenser. I wonder if all that money for filters was worthless? I will try unfiltered city water tomorrow in both filters. Today is July 29, 2023.

@@TheLakingc as you're pushing in remember to pull up with the other hand and push up with your thumb. It's being blocked by the top seal as well. Don't use a screwdriver you'll damage the finish.

@@shashanksaxena547 i tried and tried. It was not pushing in. I used a cloth and the screw driver to push with. It suddenly worked like a charm! Maybe i need stronger fingers. It did not scratch.

I took the screwdriver and cloth under it to the ridges and pushed up. It came out. If you need more water, get a larger pitcher. I had 2 Pur plus pitchers untii found their large dispenser. I put one in the RV, too, but never used the RV faucet water, just other water. It took me 3 days of research and emails to NSF to decide whether to try Zero. I found the NSF website so confusing. But finally they sent a link that helped a little. I wrote everything out and compared. Then i researched some more and looked at lots of comments. So, i FINALLY opened the box, finally got it opened, and then tested my water that says it was filtered with reverse osmosis. Then out of caution, i would filter i again through a PurPlus pitcher, with a fairly new filter. I was surprised tha both from the bottle and from the PurPlus pitcher, it read 80 in a glass. Out of a paper cup, it was 85. Rather interesting. I can't wait to test our city water at church that tastes totally toxic! I will bring some home and filter in both filters.

I just got a 10 cup pitcher it is much easier to deal with it may be less convenient because you have to take it out of the refrigerator and tilt it but I use up a lot of water between going to the gym and I can pour several bottles out at a time this way and I’m not constantly opening my refrigerator to mash the tab and leave the door open while I do so . but that’s just the way I prefer to do it each their own. However I have used a Britta before and when I got my zero water pitcher there is no comparison the Britta just does not remove near enough as a zero water does. Other than the lid issue I see here as far as quality water of what it does you do get what you pay for I just fine with the lid on the picture I don’t have to take the whole lid off I just take the back part of it off because the front part of it did come off and it was hard to get it back on there so they do definitely have an issue with their lids apparently from what I’m seeing
