I have bolt through boost axles but when i torque them up it gives the wheel resistance when freewheeling, its not the brake pads rubbing, is this supposed to happen? the bearings feel fine when the wheel is off so im guessing they are ok?

Don't unscrew both sides at a quick release. You will get problems with the positioning of the wheel. Just open one side!

This video helped me out. I haven't been on a bike in over 25 years. Just bought a Giant Fathom 29 1 and Couldn't figure out how to remove the tire - and almost screwed up the cylinder device when doing so - then couldn't put the tire back on! I've never been good with mechanics. So this video was extremely helpful. All these videos are essential and extremely helpful. Subscribed! We appreciate your time and effort in helping us newbies.

This I why I enjoy watching GMBN so much.these guys are pros.Especially when Doddy is hosting he explains it in such a way, aswell as the visual element it certainly helps many people (including myself) to maintain/fix your own bike with a level of confidence. If it wasn't for guys like this I would've had real difficulty fitting a new brake lever and bleeding the system.today I'm changing the rear wheel on my girlfriend's bike and I'm happy to do it.keep up this great work.

These videos are so useful for newbies like me. I removed my quick release front wheel last night and took the axel out of the wheel then had to put it back in to put it on. Watched this and realised I don’t have to take the axel out I just undo it and slip the wheel off. Thanks GMBN loving your channel guys

I’ve been changing wheels forever on my bikes and I just decided to watch this in case there might have been any useful tips I never knew about. I’ve always ridden with Shimano components and I recently bought a used bike with a sram rear derailleur and didn’t know about the little lockout button so changing the rear tires was a pain. Glad to know now

Easy to understand, very practical! Seeing the video help to avoid big problems (for example, with brakes 😂). Nice way of teaching, it proofs wise words: “Have you seen a man skillful at his work? He will stand before kings; He will not stand before common men”. Of course, there is nothing demeaning about working for “common people”. But the skillful artisan’s fine work will not remain a secret 👍🏽 please, post more basics video 🙏🏽

Nice video. I had the allen key axles. Both wheels were a bit tricky first go. The front one I had to lift a few mm on the side nearest the allen key once it was in, to get the axle through. The rear one I had to pull the frame apart slightly at the dropoiuts to get the axle back in. That one used a TX 30. The locking button trick worked nicely. With the rear, I could tell the chain was going to go on so I just focussed on the brake pads. I did it with the bike upside-down by the way. Had to put a block of wood under the seat to stop my pannier rack hitting the ground. Sticking up bar ends protected all the bits on my handlebars.

Take picnic blanket or carpet mat .. flip bike so the blanket or mat protects the cockpit then you are not left with one wheel in trying to undo it and dropping forks or rear mech in a car park. More importantly...put the through axle back in... you don’t want to get to the trails with no axle or the other way. (If you have a traditional QR however remove and stick in a 9mm. ) and if you are watching this.. then yes, the clutch only gets turned off for removing a wheel and axle threads take grease...

I’ve removed rear rim many times but it still causes me stress, drama, hassle & sweat sweaty sweat too, Alex rims on trek xcalibar Ebike convert. As I just replaced tube from a puncher & though I’d do new disc & pads whilst I was at it, took me longer fitting rear back in then it did removing & replacing. Idk why but it’s alway a hassle for me, lining up chain, disc, & thro axle. I’ll try this method next go round. Not to mention the grease ridden hands, fingers, legs, arms & forehead from sweating & another 15 mins scrubbing grease & grime off 😤
