Thanks so much. I knew how to use the tool but I couldn't think of what to use to push off. The socket with a bolt in the center is pure genius.

What I liked best was just the idea of for using a old rotor as a stabilization platform for while getting the race off the hub! Thanks Phillips Vision!

This saved my bacon today! I ran out and bought that set right after I watched this vid. I used a round bar end cut-off as a spacer for the first pull, then a socket between the cut-off and the hub.

This is the best system Ive seen. Thanks for the schooling. Im gonna be doing this to my sons BMW E60 tomorrow morning. You get genius point from me my friend. The moment I saw the hub on the rotor, I was amazed at your idea since I dont have a bench press or a hydraulic wheel bearing press. Great job!!!

No, you will need a hub puller. Here’s a video I did showing how to use one ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7BmiCGuNfA8.html

Hi have you ever removed a hub with a sealed bearing that was OK , left the cage on the hub and reinstalled the bearing .....or should you replace it ?
@PhillipsVision
@PhillipsVision 2 года назад
Sealed bearings are easy to replace as one part so I always replace the entire piece

Unfortunately won't work on some cars that have an abs ring behind the hub.

Would not work for my project to day with changing races out on a LippertComponents hub for camper. No edge to tap on and had to pay a machine shop to do the outer race. $115.00.

@kdeh21803
@kdeh21803 Год назад
I don't know how you get this to work..... It looks so easy here.... I've used this separator time after time and I can never get it to work..... the puller aways pulls off the race and I can never get it to work.............. then usually have to resort to a grinder or dremmel tool.

Just score it with a grinder and hit it with a cold chisel. Cracks every time

Dude you're my hero!! I just did what you said and it worked. Slid right off the hub. Unbelievable.
@waynecook3
@waynecook3 2 года назад
If you were doing this at home and had plenty of time I guess this is fine. In a workshop you would generally just cut a few slots in the race with a grinder and chisel it till it cracks. After that it will come off pretty easy

Race separator is almost to small/ I need a bigger one.
@ocmacman17
@ocmacman17 3 года назад
if your race is a larger diameter than this you are still screwed. I bought this and my porsche race was more than the diameter on the larger tool. The bolts wouldn't even come out the other side. Maybe there is a larger model.

Lot of work for a 5 minute job with a chisel
@TSimms7

Yes, I believe I zipcut as much as I could at an angle, but was probably unnecessary. I then put a small notch in a chisel to catch the lip, and tap tap tap. Works fine on a clean shaft.
