You would probably use some kind of cleaning spray with a scrub sponge or brush (and gloves).

The best thing to do is to hire a mold environmentalist to take a sample and mold report if it does come back with mold then send the report to the landlord and deduct the cost of the report off your rent. then offer 24 hours to the landlord to hire a mold professional, if the landlord does not comply, then hire someone then again deduct from rent. This is NOT legal advice, but what has worked very well for our clients. I would seek an attorney to see if this will be ok for you to do.

yes, its the best solution. But, it needs to be a strong dose. And time. Using a sprayer or roller. It takes time for the bleach to kill the mould partly because some moulds are very resistant. But eventually they do die. You might have to do more than one application. Household bleach is ok, but really you need something more concentrated like swimming pool liquid chlorine. Both are sodium hypochlorite but different concentrations.

The owners are basically slum lords which is probably why it's cheap to live here... so if they won't fix it and I'm forced to live here because rent prices have increased SO drastically I just wanna fix it so I feel like safe and comfortable in my own shower/bathroom you know.

yes, bleach is the answer. but, you need the strong stuff as used in swimming pools. its called liquid chlorine rather than bleach but its the same thing, just much stronger. You must be careful with it, so use a brush or roller to apply it. Don't stand right under it, you dont want it in your eyes!! Let it soak and do its stuff. A few hours should be enough. If not, do it again. Then leave it to dry. When you are happy that its all gone, use a bathroom paint but do not be persuaded by anti-mould marketing, it is useless. So long as you maintain ventilation there is no reason for it to come back. Periodic cleaning with bleach or ammonia will help. A landlord is not obliged to deal with mould. However, he may be obliged to deal with the causes if for example there is leak from elsewhere that is causing the damp and humidity. But, if its just you not cleaning and ventilating properly, then its your responsibility. Another thing to bear in mind - just because you cant see the mould doesnt mean its not there. This is why you need to allow time for the bleach to work. Its not instant and the bleach can react with other things so can become ineffective before the job is done.
