This works ok on thin chrome plate, but having tried to strip thick chrom from motorcycle parts with limited success, I would try something else. Good product but limited.

Fascinating. I've looked everywhere online, but can't find any answers to a question. I'm sure you are quite a busy person, but by any chance would you know if it is possible to change the finish or completely remove the chrome finish/shininess of a heavy duty polished chrome doorknob? I have a design client who just bought a house that has expensive, heavy in weight, doorknobs in shiny polished chrome & she hates it. Because the hardware switch would be expensive, I told her that I would find out if there were a way to change them... First I thought; "hmm maybe there's a place where they could be power coated or dipped in a dark, matte bronze-ish black, but after looking online I came up with nothing. My fear is that at this point she may just have to buy all new hardware for the house, but I promised her I would try! Thank you in advance if you happen to see this & have a moment to answer. She hates shiny hardware (have to agree on that, unless it's polished nickel sink hardware:)

Hi Uwe ~ Is the electrical device you're using -- the one you're calling a "rectifier" -- the same thing as constant voltage/constant current (CV/CC) DC Power Supply? The metal under the chrome plated pipes shown in your video are in very good condition because, quite honestly, it was difficult for me to see the difference between the stripped metal and the chrome plated metal. I've liked and subscribed , so please keep on making these informative videos.

Hello, hoping you can help. I need to de-chrome a kawasaki z1300 frame ( an awful 80's paint job too!) so it's a large item. The chrome is peeling away in parts and there is quite heavy surface rust. How would I go about removing chrome from an item like this. And no, unfortunatly there are no chromers in the vicinity to take it to. Thanks for the vid and your time.

Much easier process is to use muriatic acid.........stripping chrome from bumpers was one of my chores at my father's chrome shop. Simply used a plastic garbage pail full of acid, stuck one end of the bumper in it, scrubbed it with a brush using rubber gloves.
