When installing multimedia upgrades in your BMW, it's sometimes necessary to adjust the iDrive wiring. In some vehicles, that means moving the fiber optic cables from the iDrive quadlock to a new wiring harness.
In this video, Chaz shows you how easy it is to plug the fiber optic cable into the BimmerTech CarPlay MMI's dedicated wiring harness.

The device is compatible with your car and you will have to swap over the fibre optic cable.

Hello just put a new screen in my 2015 528i and the audio from the monitor won’t play to the speakers but I just realized I didn’t switch the Fiber optic Cables 🤦🏾‍♂️

2017 m240 doesn’t have fiber optic cable in original power cable. Any way around this? Original vehicle functions like resetting tire pressure aren’t available now. Would this be the reason?

hello - if my F30 didnt come with nav - does the fiber optic cable have the tips cover with plastic - not getting audio? Reinstalled 3 times and triple checked pins and have it seated correctly?

Hey Joey, it's hard to tell what might be the issue without a bit more information. Generally, there are a couple of possibilities: if your car is equipped with H&K Sound System and/or COMBOX module the fiber optic might be the culprit here - please note that the fiber optic connector can be inserted upside-down. It is hard to do so, but it is possible. Other things to be sure to check - if your kit came with a 3.5 mm AUX connector - if the AUX cable is connected in the center console AUX port, or if you have selected AUX input as your media source within the Multimedia>External Devices menu. If you are unable to figure this out, drop a message for our support team through our contact page.

I plugged out the fiber optic cable and plugged back in after test fitting a unit. Now I have no audio in the front speakers and aux is patchy. Would a bad connection cause these symptoms? Thanks

hi hopefully you can help. i have a bmw x6 with logic 7. everything is connected exactly the same as your video. but the subwoofers under the front seat and the ones in the trunk do not work at all. every other speaker works.

No, the MOST connector has little to no connection to the iDrive Controller.

hey! MY CLIP on my fiber optic wire when i pulled it out of the harness to put it in the new harness for my new aftermarket screen. the clip where it holds in broke just a little. i wanna super glue it but would rather do it the right way and replace the clip itself. do you know the part number by chance or know where I can buy the one I need? looks just like yours.

The MOST network is there to relay information between certain devices. Usually it the MOST network includes the head unit, instrument cluster devices, telecommunication modules or amplifiers.

Correct direction is necessary. If this connector is put wrongly, then the signal (which is a series one) will be interrupted, causing no audio, no time displayed in iDrive manu and no Bluetooth connection.

Ok so I have a weird issue when the fiber optic is plugged in, I get no sound from the headunit. Yet when i take it out it works. I would leave it out but all id does is flash and keep giving feed back every 2 seconds.

Fiber Optic cable not being connected or being loose can cause issues with audio and wireless connections in your car, not the screen. The issue with the screen might be caused by LCD cables not connected or connected improperly.

Hi I am based in India and got a 12.3” android from Kanor. Their support is poor. My X3 F25 lci does not have the fibre optic cables so I don’t have sound or idrive control. Is there a way around this?

I followed your instructions. Everything was fine, but there is no sound when I try to play music from Bluetooth on my phone. It says phone is connected but no sound. Strange thing is that I have sound when I make a phone call and I hear navigation instructions but no music. Any advise?

It sounds a lot like you are using an iPhone and are still paired with the OEM iDrive Bluetooth. Please head over to the Bluetooth settings on your phone and delete BMWXXXXX device from the list of paired devices. From then on make sure you have AUX selected in your iDrive as the sound input.

I wanted to why my Idrive isn't function at all with my aftermarket Android head unit it's for a 06 bmw 750 li the screen comes I'm able to touch the screen swipe left and right and open apps but once I try to use the Idrive knob nothing happens even when I push the menu for for regular Idrive screen it's goes blank what could be my problem...

Hi! Yes! It is possible to replace the fiber optic cable if damaged. Fiber optic cables are designed to be relatively durable and resistant to physical damage, but they can be damaged if they are subjected to excessive force. Cheers!

Did you get the no signal issue resolved? My screen comes on then says no signal. Radio and Bluetooth still works just loose the screen after car is on for 1-2 minutes

Hey! Not all Bmws are equipped with the fiber optic so if yours does no have it do not worry your can continue with the installation without it.

Hi,GoodDay.I have plugged a MOST cable into my "new upgraded NBT EVO ID6 HeadUnit" on my MINI Cooper F60 2018 countryman, that i recently upgraded to. Am i supposed to see light at the other end of the Fibre cable to know that the MOST is active/working?.I am not seeing my MOST cable light up at the other end.Is that a problem?.

Fibre optic cables transmit large amounts of data at very high speeds. They are required for some multimedia upgrades which have to process a lot of data.
