How to remove Ford Ranger Door In this video I show how to remove the passenger door on a 2003 ford ranger base model. Dont let the cut frames fool you, this is a very easy job and only took me 5 min. to have the door removed!
Thanks for this video, I just needed to know how to remove the wiring harness not the actual door but this still really helped me. Had my truck repainted & there’s all sorts of overspray I’ve been taking care of, including on those harness looms.
I have a cool tip. Only on a Ranger though. Haven't done it on anything else. Those little red seated stools from Harbor freight. Before removing any bolts, put it under the door center, pull the lever so it lifts to the bottom of the door. Let go of the lever. That way, when you get the bolts out it will be supporting the weight of the door. Don't readjust the stool or mark the height until you replace the door. That way you can set the door back on it to make reinstalling the door easier.
You have no idea how helpful this was. I want to remove a driver's side door (2010 Ranger) . Mine does have power windows (and Ford's self peeling paint as an extra benefit/sarcasm). Many thanks !

@@HandsOnDismantler Could I bother you with a question? I have a 2000 Ranger XLT that was damaged but I may have found another yellow one but it has crank windows. Can I take my power doors off mine and replace them on one that has never had power doors? Will there be additional connection options inside the kick panel for the power windows and locks on the door?

These are made to fit exactly. but if the vehicle has ever been damaged or abused you will find misalignments. you can try bending the hinges accordingly or using small shims like you said. Thank you for the awesome comment.
Followed your instruction but now realize that getting the door back on will not be easy without a hoist of some kind. Two-man job for sure. Any ideas on how to realign and attach the door without that second set of hands?

Honestly I’m not sure, this was a few years back and this ranger was dismantled. I would say a google search may help further, and even just examining the two body styles side by side, if there are differences then obviously it would be no. But anything can be modified. Just depends how badly you want it to fit haha
At the time the channel was created it was for the purpose of “dismantling” 😂 the channel has since evolved past that but yeah, re installing was never part of the plan. lol
If my door isn't closing properly at the very top and even rattles going over bumps could something as simple as taking the door off and putting it back on fix it? Or is it going to be a more complicated fix than that?
Chances are if you bought it that way. Then it might have been in a accident and tried fixing. Or some area of the door has been damaged by something being bent. If none of that is the issue the. Your hinges are more than likely bent. Taking it off and putting it back on won’t fix it. You’ll need to figure out why it’s not seated flush.
@@HandsOnDismantler The bottom panel of the door has been re-painted but I was told it was just for rust repair. Was hoping he just took the door off to paint and didn't put it back on properly. Thanks for the info and video, going to dive into it tomorrow.

And there is a “OR” it really is rusted but it’s so rusted that the cab area by the door has bent or moved causing the door not to seat properly. No, base models (with the exception of new vehicles) didn’t come with wiring for upgraded models back then. So you’ll have to hardwire or go to a junk yard for wiring harnesses. It would probably be cheaper and easier to just buy a ranger with power windows lol!
Does the same process apply to removing the driver side door? If not, could you please make a video showing how? I have a 2006 Ranger and the driver side door needs to be replaced as the bottom has rusted away completely.
Ford Tough, hey thank you for watching! I sure can, I havnt gotten there yet but if you subscribe I should have it up within the week. To answer ur question, the process is exactly the same considering your truck is also the base model without power windows or mirrors. The only MAIN difference is the harness connector location. So imagine laying on your back under the driver side of the dash, the harness goes up from the gromet then goes up past the ebrake until it meets with the main harness. My connector was tucked above the main harness and seemed to be clipped to the main harness. But once you follow it up you should see it and get a better understanding. Once that’s removed you should be able to just unbolt the door and carefully slide it away.
Ford Tough, np! Glad I could help. The only thing I foresee being a pain in the butt is trying to reconnect the harness once you replace the door. Honestly it’s in such a tough spot I debated even splicing the wire closest to the door because I thought it would be easier lol! 🤣
Jernard Frost most likely the door you got is from a different model or year, either that or the door or brackets are “bent” or have previously been in a accident. Sometimes even the slightest damage can throw a whole door off from closing.
best advise would be to follow the wire harness coming from the door. I cant remember off the top of my head. But it should be in a similar location as this ranger
