In this video we show how to remove the rear side panels in the boot trunk area of the Land Rover Discovery 3 and 4 ( LR3 / LR4 ). This could be useful when fitting Tow Bar wiring etc.
Amazing how much extra space it creates. Now we want to see you show us how to fit an ARB compressor in the near-side space so it looks and works like the Defender unit! 😎 Love the D3 / D4 content - and looking forward to seeing the reviews of the replacement display panels. Great channel 👍
Instead of manhandling/bending the lower end of the panels, just pull the tread plates they go underneath upwards - they just pop off and on with metal trim clips. I had the whole lot of lower LHS panels off about 9 months ago to wire in my rear dash-cam - this would have been really useful back then, but I figured it out in the end :)
Hello , as in the video , I removed the right rear panel , but there is the audio radio module , the key module , and the amp module , there is no blouetoothe module , where do you think it is ? thank you
Thanks Simon and Tyler. I've had an intermittent problem with DAB reception which has now become permanent. At least I now know where to start looking to remedy. Very useful.
Most useful Simon! My friend Tim has a loose boot panel and was quoted £680 to replace it by a JLR garage which seemed bonkers. However…it needs your bravery and expertise to battle the job…I am surprised how much is located all around the boot…slightly scary!! So trim poppers/studs/clip detail will be most interesting even if we are not brave enough to pull it all apart after all!! 😀😀😀😀Richard.
I just looked at the price of these side panels - they vary from £200 to £600 for the panel ! But if its just loose i am sure its just a clip that needs replacing !
@@L663 Hmmm…that does tie up with their quote then but in fact they rang him before going ahead as they thought the charge was bonkers. He just needs the right clips and I did try to help once before but they were not the correct ones. I shall have to go through your video to see if I can spot the correct type he should have. Thank you for looking it all up for me,! Richard🧐🧐😳😳😃😃😃
The Fuel Pump Control Module is located behind the Right rear panel on the LR 4. I need to diagnose the module before I condemn it. Thanks for showing how to easily remove the respective panel.
Thanks Simon. Could be very useful. However, I managed to fit all the tow-bar electronics without the need to remove either of those panels. All the multi-plugs are already in the LHS and can be reached vis the little removable panel (opposite the jack one on the RHS panel). As you have located the DAB radio gizmo, I’m wondering it you could fit this to a Disco4 that hasn’t got DAB fitted. Perhaps even change the whole thing to combine DAB radio and a Bluetooth to accept music from a mobile phone, instead of having use a wired link to the plug inside the centre console on older / non HSE D4’s and RR Sports? It would be one hell of a lot simpler than having to remove the original Satnav screen in one of your previous videos. Perhaps this is something you could investigate and do another RU-vid video on.
That left hand cavity is huge. I'm having ideas of hiding 2nd battery and related kit in there. Don't need any silly elbow pocket for the rear seats because I'll never sit there. :)
@@L663 on the 5 seat version they have a mesh to use it as a pocket. I'd much rather modify the panel and use that space. Every bit counts when setting up for touring.
Dear Simon/Tyler, I came across this but before I try it out myself, I wonder whether you can advise me on an issue I have please? There is this humming noise coming out of the area under the panel on the right hand side and I am struggling to find out what it is. Initially I thought it is the cd/dvd player located at the same place but it’s not. The noise starts shortly after the engine is running and even after the engine is switched off, the noise is on for a while and then stops. I have a video recording of the noise should you like to see it. I shared it on your Instagram account. Not sure if anyone picks it up. I would really appreciate your help. It’s TDV6 HSE disco 3
My used 2016 has two broken seat belt covers and a rare seat back release 😊 When I was a LR parts manager I don't even think I had any plastic parts parts in stock 😞
