Thanks for the video. When I took my wheel off all the parts just fell out! Bearings were gone and had no idea what went where! Then I could not find my manual 🤷🏼♂️
After watching this we can see that our Scag Cheetah was NOT assembled correctly by the AgPro “dealer” and it explains why one of the front wheels FELL OFF (after only 6 months owning it) while I was operating the mower! 😳. I can’t find ANYONE in our area competent enough to help and this video has a real LIFE SAVER! Thank you!
i know i'm late to the party but all scags should come mostly pre-assembled, at least the casters are from my experience. the only thing a dealer does is install the seat, oil, check the air in the tires, install the control arms, connect the battery, etc.
would be helpful to know the size socket you used to tap in the grease seal. none of mine fit and I have to buy one at the local auto parts store so the size of that socket would have been helpful.
Just what I was looking for! Please change title to " scag *** wheel bearing replacement". You may get more hits. I am in the process of replacing the bearings and associated parts in my tiger cat. Worst part is going to be cleaning out original grease from 1500 hour machine. Thanks
I bought it with the 3 bagger collection system. When those baggers are full of wet grass or leaves it's very heavy. I don't use the collection system at present because I found it's simply easier to mulch everything in the fall. But the weights sit on the machine as that's a home spot for them.
good video any reason that you put the bolt axle in from the opposite side that you took it out of? I always prefer the nut on the inboard side in case the wheel rubs up against something it doesn't damage the threads. I'm sure you noticed that and switched it back.
On this machine as new the bolts slide in from underneath and the nut goes on top. There is a little extra bolt length so the threads would be all gunked up if I put the nut on the grass side.
I bought replacement wheels from an ebay seller. Go partstree.com look up the bearing you need them with that part number either buy from they or hunt for a cheaper deal
Spin the tire and tighten the wheel. When the tire stops spinning that means your too tight so back it off a little. Unless there is a specific method, the old method I speak of and shown works just fine.
The bearings and spacer should stick out a little. As you tighten the axle bolt spin the tire until the tire binds from the pressure, then back off the bolt pressure until the tire rotates freely. Then your done.
@@vancecousin7166 stationery. The only thing that turns is the rim. The bearing tightens up on the outside lips. The inner bearing will spin freely, providing the bolt it not over tightened. So I spin the tire and tighten the bolt. When the tire stops spinning loosen the nut a little to get the tire rotating freely. Then the tire job is done.
@@007connecticut no its a type that once you got the nut off the bolt should just slide out . It stuck in there pretty good . Tried turning it and losing . Wouldn't come out any further . I gave up after I used a sledgehammer to try and hit it out . Even that didn't work 😂
Just remove that axle bolt and it falls apart. No serious tools required. Screwdriver, couple wrenches and rags, lots of rags because of the grease. Thanks
