If you can barely feel it with your fingernail, it will remove it without any sanding but any deeper than that, I would suggest sanding with 3,000 grit wet and dry all the way to 5,000 wet and dry, then buff. we are still trying to locate a rebuild kit then we are off and running

we actually did it this as we found the parts were unavailable so we took it apart carefully and cleaned it all and reassemble and it worked like a charm.

If this method did not remove your scratches, then it is beyond repair and the only other option you have is to replace it. crewchief2 you sure can, the coating we use is perfect for chrome and polished aluminum. We have found it works good on exhausts as well all the way up to within a foot of the cylinder heads. we are actually doing a video on this showing the exact procedure for chrome..mike
