Welcome to Thistle Cottage! Have you ever gotten the notification to re-check your upper thread, only to find that your thread has shredded? No Problem! I'll show you how to take your machine apart, retrieve the shredded mess, and put your machine back together again, so you can restart your embroidery, right where you left off.

You saved my life today......Thank you for this video.....I followed your directions exactly and was able to clear a jam that has been breaking my threads for over a week and it finally stopped stitching today. After following your directions it stitches so much better without breaks. This could have easily been a service charge at my local sewing machine repair shop. AMAZING! Thank you AGAIN!

If I could give this a thousand thumbs up I would do it! I am trying to finish embroidering gifts for a Christmas party tomorrow and last night my thread started bird nesting badly on the bottom and looping on the top. I took it apart three times today, took out the bobbin, tried a different bobbin, tried different thread, rethreaded it a billion times, and changed the needle trying to find out what the problem was, but I didn't know that the little part that was hard to get off actually came off. I had tried to get it off earlier and was afraid I would break it so I left it alone. When I got it off, there was the shredded thread! Thank you! You saved my sanity and you saved my Christmas!

Thank you so much for this. I have had my PE 770 in the shop twice for this. Both times the repairman said there was some thread caught inside. Costs over $100 each time. This will help me tremendously.

A million thanks!! This just happened to me and I was debating on whether or not to try and handle the problem myself. So, as I always do, I checked youtube to see if someone had been thoughtful enough to post a how-to video and I found this one. I just pulled the parts of and was able to pull out the shredded thread. Sending another million thanks!!!!

I have had a problem like this for over 20 years. I would bring my machine in and have it cleaned. The machine would work fine for a long time then start malfunctioning again. We moved to our retirement home in the north woods and I found another mechanic. He showed me how to service my machine my self and that was very helpful. I bring my Baby Lock CC in for a service once a year. (I have a small business I use the machine for.)

Hi Genevieve, I also have videos to show you how to thread your machine, wind a bobbin, and using the installed designs & fonts (that come with your machine). You may want to watch those videos first. There are also lots of free PES files on FB to help get you started! Welcome to the World Of Embroidery! :)

I have this machine now and I'm wondering if these machines are normally noisy when Embroidering? Also I have a box of Organ SAEMB7511 Embroidery Needles and when I when I use them they make a Ticking sound. The needles that came with my machine doesn't do that but they do not show what brand to use. What Embroidery Needles do you use in your PE770
@thistlecottage944
@thistlecottage944 6 лет назад
Hi Genevieve! The Organ 75/11 needles should be fine in your machine. I also use Schmetz, when I need ball point needles (for Onesies or T shirts), or Schmetz Microtex needles when I embroider vinyl). Yes, the machines are noisier than a sewing machine, for example - but I'm not sure what your ticking sound would be. It is quite possible that it is a normal sound, and i just don't hear it anymore, because I am used to it. As with any needle, make sure it is seated properly & pushed up into the holder as far as it can go. If there is a ticking sound coming from your bobbin area, you will need to make sure your bobbin case white dots are lined up - and the bobbin goes into the case like a "p" (not a q). If the black bobbin case is not seated properly, it could also make a ticking sound.

Cyn Forest , if you've been having this issue repeatedly, then removing the mass of thread is a must! It will only get worse. It's really quite easy to fix, and only requires to loosen the 2 screws, on each of the plastic pieces shown. You can be back up & running in 5 minutes! Let me know how you made out! :)

Thistle Cottage Hi. Good news, took machine apart. Only small fuzz piece inside. Put back together. BTW, there are more "notches" to line up than your vid shows; guess Brother added a few on latest model. I had bad light and wrong screwdriver but it still worked. Lol. After all that, discovered my "real" problem: too much stabilizer. Used precut sheets and a couple stuck together. My 770 didn't like it. Thanks again for your vid. It gave me the confidence to disassemble and check inside.
@cynforrest

Thistle Cottage Will rewatch your vid. Machine works fine now, EXCEPT Needle Threader no longer works. I obviously missed something on reassembly. Lol.
@thistlecottage944
@thistlecottage944 6 лет назад
LOL ... Yes, the lever prongs (on the inside of the cover) also need to be slid into the proper position t meet up with the lever on the machine - or the auto threader won't work. I think I show the lever parts on the video as well. It's a simple fix, just take the cover off and put it back on again, making sure the levers and the post are in proper position. :)

Thistle Cottage Yup. Musta missed it the first go around - it all works fine now. Sure glad you mentioned the Needle threader in your vid b/c that was my tipoff on what I missed. Thanks again.

I have been making a small bag. My thread is fraying and then breaking. It does this about the same spot. Cleaned the bobbin, new needle even changed the color of thread and the same thing. I did find lots of thread like you dug out, cleaned out. Still does it and I have 2 PE770 and they are doing the same thing on both machines. I have made many bags on both of them. Any other help? Are you suppose to oil the machine if so how

Thanks for sharing this problem with us. I have a Brother PE 770 and started to work on and my machine made a clattering sound and a beep sound and the screen said serious something on it? and froze up. Any ideal what could be going on? I had some nesting and fabric in my bobbin area but after I cleaned that part out it still is acting the same. The back of the fabric was a mess. Thank you for your videos as well Susan Montgomery
@thistlecottage944
@thistlecottage944 6 лет назад
Hi Susan! I would start by cleaning out the bobbin area as you did, making sure to check underneath the bobbin area - and making sure the white arrows (white dots) on the black bobbin holder are aligned. I would also clean the thread paths, as in the video, to make sure there are no wads of thread. But the most likely culprit, could be that your thread cutter did not retract. The thread cutter can be seen, when you take the bobbin plates off - it's the little hook/blade to the left of the bobbin. I dab a bit of oil (on a q-tip) on the cutter, to ensure it can retract easily. You will also want to turn off your machine, then turn it back on, to reset and recalibrate the embroidery arm.

Hi Susan! PS: I think you are in my FB group (?) - the pumpkin that I'm working on, in the video, is the new pumpkin freebie that I digitized for my group! I was testing the final stitch-out & working on the instruction sheets/color charts, when my thread shredded. I'll be uploading the free file this week, so don't forget to download it from the group files! Darlene

Thank you Darlene! I think you are on my facebook group. I plan on taking a look at the top of the machine as in your video also to see what may be sitting there as well. I have dreams of owning a bigger one some day but I have enjoyed learning on a smaller machine. And thank you for those free files sounds like fun to me! thank you again for all you do Susan

Your video has helped me get my 89 year old mother sewing again. I was able to get the tensions set but I am getting a message to check the upper tension. It is sewing well but I have to push the on button every few seconds. What might be a solution?
@thistlecottage944
@thistlecottage944 3 года назад
Hi Nancy! I would try to readjust. The top tension should be set to 0. The bottom bobbin tension is adjusted by the screw on the side. To adjust the bobbin tension, turn the screw 1/4 turn at a time; then do a stitch sample on the letter l or i. The back of the hooped fabric will use the "rule of thirds".... there will be a strip of top thread, a center strip of bobbin thread, and another strip of top thread. Also, make sure you're using the correct weight of thread. 45 weight for top thread, and 90 weight for bottom bobbin.

Why does the tread keeps breaking though???? Can anyone answer this please.
@thistlecottage944
@thistlecottage944 6 лет назад
C C , thanks for your question! Many things can cause thread to shred. The main issues: use a thread stand so thread can flow freely. Also, use sewers aid, on your threads, which will strengthen the strands.

Needle hole thread shred.how is remove?
@thistlecottage944
@thistlecottage944 6 лет назад
Nisha Nisha , I'm not sure what you are asking. If the thread appears to be shredding near the needle hole, I would put in a new needle. Sewer's Aid, is a liquid that will also make your thread stronger. You may want to try that also!

How is remove presur foot plate?
@thistlecottage944
@thistlecottage944 6 лет назад
Nisha Nisha, the bobbin cover comes off first. Then, unscrew the 2 screws on the metal plate (I use a Quarter, or a Nickel, because there is not much room). Once the metal plate is removed, you should clean the inside with the brush, to remove fuzz & lint. Also clean the bobbin case.

@thistlecottage944
@thistlecottage944 3 года назад
Hi! Sorry I couldn't respond in time! I'm glad you got it. It does pull off hard, because of that little plastic clip in the bottom. Just make sure, when you reassemble, to look for the metal peg, that goes into the inside hole, on the upper left side. Then you can snap the bottom back into place.
