Back in the 70's I worked in a skate shop. We had CLEAR grip tape then (still around?). So, I would take pics out of magazines (think boobilicious), glue them to the deck, and then cover them with the clear tape. I can't tell you how many deck jobs we sold that way. Hundreds, most likely.
I have a video idea "how fix a chipped tail or nose" for me i remove the griptape, next use wood filler over the chipped area, then use a putty knife to apply the wood filler. Wait for about 24 hours, use sandpaper to remove access filler and go around the top of the deck til the filler is level with the board then apply a new sheet of griptape.
Hey friends at Tactics, a skate shop guy just applied grip tape w/ a graphic on it to our board - and the design is off center. It is not terrible, but a little frustrating. Thinking of reapplying a new one. Wondering how easy it will be to remove. Have not even stepped on it. So, guessing pretty easy. Mind sharing your POV here? Should we be able to remove it fairly easily and apply new tape correctly? Thanks in advance!
Yeah, it should be pretty easy to remove especially if it's brand new. Depending on what brand of grip it is, it might peel up in one piece, but you should be able to easily remove it with the method in the video. Cheers! - Tim
The adhesive comes as part of the griptape and sticks onto the board like a giant sticker. I'm not sure what the exact adhesive is and it varies from brand to brand.👍 - Tim

I have a full sheet of grip tape stick to my face, how can I get it off without burning my face with a heat gun? P.S. The razor blade also hurts my face.
Thanks for the video, your expertise, and time. I have a couple of kick scooters whose grip tape I'll be replacing at some point, and this how-to vid will come in handy.
I let my boy do my first grip and he tried to get fancy and fucked my shit up lmaoo thanks for this its been like 3 years and im tired of people askig wtf happened to my grip ahahaha
Heating it up doesnt save time and any grip will fully come off, just pry it up with a blade and pull carefully and the work is done. Dont worry about the sticky adhesive still being a little leftover on the ply. Just regrip it, and youre good to go.
Nah, you don't want to do that because if you have to take off the trucks, you won't be able to loosen the hardware from both sides because they are covered by the griptape. You can start loosening the nut from the bottom side, but it usually starts just spinning the whole bolt because you're not holding it steady from the topside. Ultimately you would have to peel off the grip if you wanted to remove the trucks or hardware. So I don't recommend putting the grip tape over the already mounted bolts. 👍- Tim
I have an older skateboard that was left by someone and I highly doubt they want it back after how many years has been last year we wouldn't give it back anyways with how they treated my sister
Hey I have a question I wanna change my wheels to softer wheels because my countries roads and sidewalks are really rough should i get 85 a wheel or a 95(I'm not using it for trickS)
It's better to remove the trucks because the hardware bolts will be pinching the grip and make it harder to peel it up when it gets to the hardware. Plus, if you're going to re-grip the board, you don't want to put the grip on over the bolts, so you'll need to take them off anyway. 👍 - Tim
You should use a pointy tool like a thin screwdriver or a nail to poke the holes through from the under side of the deck. Then you'll be able to see them from the top side and get the hardware in. I hope that answered your question! 👍 - Tim

Hello tactics, i wanted to build a skate, but i don't have enough budget to buy all at the same time, which should i buy first? deck?, Trucks?, Or wheels?
You might as well save up till you have enough to get all together. But if you really wanted to get one at a time, I'd say get the deck first, then you can base everything else off of the deck size. Also you can do flip tricks on the carpet without trucks which is pretty fun. 😄 Cheers! - Tim
If it's really hot where you live, you can set the board in the hot sun for a bit and let the grip get really hot and then peel it right there. You could also try an oven, but that's too hot and will probably warp the deck. You can just peel it without heating it, but it will be more difficult. 👍 - Tim
