USE A SCREWDRIVER to push the release button! If you push too hard, it gets all messed up. If you use a flat head screwdriver (you can see the spacing cut into the metal that fits a the screwdriver head), it ensures you don't push the release button too far.
I can feel the release depress (i think) but I cant pull the stem out? do I need to hold the depress button down or just press it once to release? ive tried holding it with varying pressures while pulling on the crown
I cannot tell you how many A2824-2 movements I have completely ruined just by removing the refitting the stem a few times. It's like the manufacturing tolerances are exponentially more horrible as compared to their Swiss gens. I guess it's time to formally move into ETA stuff.
@@MLightstone LOL. I'm new to watch making and have already broken two movements exactly like this. The button basically just breaks after just touching it. I thought I wasn't cut out for the hobby but I guess the lesson is that the Chinese stuff really is junk...
@@goodburger101 The clutch in a 2824 is nothing like the one on a Seiko or a Miyota. You don't just push and pull. That said, the copies I've messed with were hot garbage,
@@MLightstone I still would love to complete my build as I have a case dial and hands that all fit a 2824 but i can't keep buying crappy clones if they keep breaking as soon as I touch it. I don't want to spend $250+ for a genuine ETA since I'll probably just break that too. Are there more resilient sub $100 movements on the market that I could use with the case/dial/hands I already have?
@@goodburger101 not that I'm aware of. You might have some luck fitting an nh35 into the case with a little work, but the hands and dial will not fit it. Otherwise you're looking at even more expensive swiss movements.
I have a genuine 2824-2 where the stem snapped off and I cant reach it. Could I press the release button down and tilt the movement? Im hopeful gravity would let the stem down...any thoughts?
Hi , is it normal if after removing the stem the watch starts moving again ? I've put it into position 2 (time setting) and the second hand stopped (as it should) pulled out the stem (without pushing it back in) and it started moving again. Thanks
Hey guys quick question I have a croton bellagio Swiss 25j Eta 2834-2 I know it’s not a rolex or a very high end watch but I love it :) I have had it for years and I just wanted to know if I could remove the stem the same exact way? Pull it all the way out to the set time setting correct And I’m ok? And to put back in just carefully push it in straight as possible very so slightly correct?
Hi guys I have a question if someone can help me? I have a croton Swiss 25j eta 2834-2 I can remove them stem the same exact way? Even if my crown is a screw down?
I needed to change a crown, and was able to remove the stem without first setting to time setting mode, but now I'm having a hard time putting the stem back in. It can now only go in like half way where I can only change time but not wind it up. Is there a trick, short of taking the whole movement apart? This is on a 2782, so maybe similar to 2824.
pull the crown 2nd position (time set mode) then press and remove the stem, Don't press 1st position (date set mode) because this wrong position, solution: only open calander side and set the setting lever properly.
