Great video!!! I have a 2002 and had a very similar issue before watching to your video... THANKS A LOT !!!! I also had the left rear door stock and unable to open. I noticed the door lock indicator wasent moving up when unlocking the doors so I took the second wire off and ended up pulling both and it finaly opened the door. The door lock engine was burnt so I just changed it and i'm all good now. Thanks again for the key hint helping me out after all. Keep up the great videos

One last step is, when you open the in side of the door you can release the child lock, by pushing up on the top rod then, lift the switch.

Easy way to remove the connector is to pull the panel clear of the door, then rotate it 90° counter-clockwise, then you can see the tab to release the cable. My guess those of you that can't get the door open is the child lock is on and the exterior handle is broken. And yes you can easily break the handle if opening while unlocking...
