This video will show you how to replace the right passenger side window regulator and motor commonly found on 04' - 08' Acura TL's. This video reflects the 2nd replacement job I've performed on the TL (on the front passenger side door). In both cases, the motor cable became entangles inside the window motor reel. To perform this repair fast and easy, I recommend you get the regulator and motor assembly as one unit in lieu of just the regulator on the hopes that the motor can be transferred. No specialty tools required to perform this repair.

Kudos for ppl who can remember these steps and attempt it. I’d be too afraid I’d get stuck at some point, and the window not go back easily or correctly. I’ll stick to the tape solution for now. 😂😂👍

This video helped me on my TSX. For the 2 bolts holding the regular to the window- my window was stuck in the “up” position so i had to force my hand in 1) from the right side by the regulator and locks, and 2) from the left side the other bolt from the other side near the window motor itself. A tiny 10mm open ended wrench did the trick for me, but I did cut up my hands in the process.

In the future, with the stuck "up" position, remove all the window regulator mounting bolts, push the regulator away from the door which will drop the window glass down and give you access to the 2 window mount bolts.

Tip from the top... you don't need to remove the entire door panel, or the entire vapor seal. Remove only the right, left and top of the seal. Remove only the latch cable and the motor connector. Let the panel droop at about a 60 degree angle. Remove one gray connector when sliding out the crossbar. Work around the rest. This is a 2 beer flat rate job. :)

I found out that you can buy around 25 of those white clips that hold that cable onto the inside door handle for like 4 bucks on ebay with free shipping. They are shipped from China so it might take a couple of weeks. They tend to break so it might be a good idea to have some on hand. I just did my regulator a week ago.

Hey ... good to know. Worked on some Honda's that had the cable disconnected at the clip point. But in this video, the cable was toast along with the motor.

I like Dorman if you're willing to pay a little more. Their quality, reliability and longevity is consistent. No name brands can be a little risky. I've provided product links in the "Show More" section of this video. Good luck!

So when I roll up the window after replacing it, it goes up and then back down about 2 inches. It is installed in the correct position and I verified that it’s not trying to push the window up any higher. Do you know what could be wrong?

Had a similar problem with a VW. Turned out to be a issue with the aftermarket regulator motor. The customer said it was okay to live with the problem.

Quick question, just wondered if you needed to remove the wiring harness @4:39? Is there any other reason than access? Figured when I do this I'd be able to just leave that attached and feed the regulator through, being careful not to trap the harness or something like that.

Good question. I detached the harness so that I could attach the window regulator lead to the door panel window switch without having to move the door panel close to the door.

Aftermarket replacement motors may not be as strong as OEM and you should clean and lubricate the rubber window side channels. That would result in less friction pressure for the motor to overcome.

Will this work for a base 08 tl because the motor still works but i think the regulator fell out of mine and is the regulator what holds the window?

Yes it should work and the regulator holds the window.

Hello I have a 2011 Acura TL and from the drivers window switch I am unable to control the passenger window however it works when I go to the passenger side. All the other windows work appropriately from the switch, just not the passenger window. Could it be a blown fuse or a faulty sub-wire?

More than likely the driver's side control switch is bad.

Do you need the honda computer reader to fix the auto one touch programmed in? Need to do this to my passenger window but I'm hesitant because this seems to be a common issue with Dorman. Thanks, great video by the way.

Don't think so. If the one touch doesn't work, it's a problem with the new motor's integrated electronics. I'd do a warranty claim and get a new one, IMHO.

@@Fnnylou03 There's World Power Systems, Ultra-Power, ACI & SKP brands. Surprised the Dorman didn't work out for you ... unless it's a Chinese clone product. You can call Dorman and ask if there's a way to tell if it's actually Dorman or a clone.

I see you replace the regulator but at what point did you also replace the motor? I can’t find it. Is it just sitting inside the panel?

The motor is attached at the end of the two cables.

Hello. I have a 03 Acura TL type s and having issues with the driver side window. There’s a constant noise going on even when I turn the engine off and the window will not go up or down, randomly happened. Idk anything about the fuses, etc.

Probably the cable connection point to the window motor is barely hanging on. You'll need to remove the door panel to see what's going on.

@@hardlymovingpro I removed the fuse (40A) and reinserted it and the stalling noise has stopped. Will try removing the door panel

@@hardlymovingpro hi again. So these mechanics I brought it too fixed the window with the motor assembly device but my auto function is no longer working. I replaced the fuse (40A) prior but not sure that did anything. Any idea how I can get it back working? This is upsetting, more so because they’re charging $250 for this fix

the replacement part isn't OEM so I'd assume it's missing that function.

Detach the 10 mm bolts from the regulator and pull the glass out of the door on a angle.

Hey, I replaced my driver side window regulator the other day, i didn't have power in my car because short story don't ever boost anyone's car they are selfish and dumb and will fry your tiny expensive electronics, and if forgot to unplug my battery. So the next day i started driving, window worked except for the auto feature( you know you hit the button once fully does the window up). When i hit the button than remove my finger it goes up hits the top than comes back down 2 inches however holding the button works. Any idea the quick fix? I'm assuming the unit sits too high maybe by 1/8" and when it hits the top for safety measures drops back down thinking an object is in the way or something of that sort

Had a similar problem a while ago with another car. Turned out the be the replacement window regulator motor. The motor had sensors that weren't working properly. Hope this helps.
