Hi, just would like to say a big thank you for your video. I have an ageing V50 and the other day my wife phoned in a panic saying that the drivers door wouldn't open. I went through the usual changing the battery in the key, but no joy. When I used the key to open the door, remotely there was no noise from the lock and the emergency key didn't even turn in the lock. I took a wee trip up to my local volvo dealer and they more or less said it would be a session to try and get the door panel off and they said it probably mean that the passenger and drivers seat would have to come out and then a chisel to get the lock broke up to get the door open, with a bill of around £370+V So I found your video and saw where all the fixings were and it struck me that I could start at the top, after taking off the handle, controls, etc. I could then look down in and see most of the fixings, used a long piece of wood and popped them all off and got the panel off. I was then able to take all the bolts off the inner door panel and I could see the lock, Put a piece of wood up against it and gave it a crack with a hammer. Tried the key remote and the lock opened. Sprayed a lot of WD40 around it and its still working. Much thanks Tolly

Hi, extremely useful video! Just one question though, what is the name of the cable that opens the door from the interior? The drivers door opens only from the outside, and with your video I should be able to take the panel off, however I dont know the name of the part that probably broke. Thanks!

Thanks, I need to replace the whole wing mirror and had a feeling the whole door card needs to come as the speaker is connected to it which it seems it is bit ridiculous having to do this to get access to the bolts but anyway will have to

Modern cars are so shit. All made out of bits of crappy plastic, too many electronics you don't need always going wrong and costing a fortune . Even have to use plastic tools. Whatever happened to screws and simple door handles. Soon we'll be making cars from Lego bricks.
