I live in the Netherlands and there is no lime without some kind of wax @@sunflower-oo1ff for protection during transfer - they often come from the other side of the world. It's disgusting indeed, I discovered it after consuming tons of them ahahah. If they aren't local then most likely they also have some kind of wax (also imazalil).
How sad that we have to work at removing wax or worst, PESTICIDE from your lemons...we buy organic and its still not enough, they have to coat the beautiful lemon with a wax...a wax they called " vegetable wax" but I love to found out how much vegetable there are in their supposed " vegetable wax" :(
Not all apples will be waxed, some have a natural wax feel to them, the label should tell you if there's any wax added. I don't use this method for apples as I normally buy them organic and they never tend to be waxed here in UK.
many thanks for your advice in the first place. most of the lemons we buy in the supermarket are also treated with some chemicals. So the wax comes off but what about that chemicals? THNX for advising 🙏 🙏 🙏

I would say just dunk them in a large pot with just boiled water briefly, fish them out with a slotted spoon and immediately wipe with a paper towel, that should remove the wax off.
I'm just blanching all my fruits in a big pot of almost boiling water. It's working fine! Just know your fruits might go bad faster once the wax is removed. But I'm canning and pickling today so it's okay.
With lemons and limes it normally tells you in the shop - if it doesn't say it's unwaxed, it most likely is waxed. Regarding apples, it normally doesn't say, so you can perhaps judge on how the cold water acts on the surface of the apple. If it's very hydrophobic,i.e. runs of in beads, does not spread on the surface, the chances are it's waxed.
The reason I don't let the fruit sit in the boiling water for too long is not to cook or in any way affect the lemon rind as I use it for recipes and want it to be as fresh and zesty as possible.
Why would i need to remove wax from the skin of lemon, i dont eat its skin(except of course whe i use zest), i think the best example for is an apple. Thanks anyway
Why would you not care about wax on your lemon in the first place...how gross... the growing industries are getting away with poisoning us with " vegetable wax" and chemicals ) and we're keeping silent...are humans stupid or what ? :(
The vax is something that has been put on by the manufacturer, it's not the natural wax of the fruit, but the chemical wax that is not edible, so that the fruit would last longer on the shelf.
