Nice video! I had four on my Maxima and I got two off I think using a socket is easier I wind up buying two reverse lock remove those on Amazon and I had a bang the hell out of there is 1 million times to get to those things off so I think the socket works better good job!
Get huge X shaped lug nut remover, had one in my car.. jam it on the largest side.. stand on it for leverage. Step on the left side & bounce/jump.. took off 3 easy! My neighbor took the last one off *he's heavier then me* no other tools needed. Removed all 4 on my jeep wrangler.
I had a customer today with same problem. His security lug nut is so huge (there is small gap between nut and rim hole). Tried to apply same method but i couldnt find socket slim enough to do this without damaging his brand new rims.
To get the socket out when it is stuck, simply attach an extender and hit the socket with a hammer. The vibration will pop it loose. No need for a larger socket.
This didn’t work for me but I got this “ABN Twist Socket Set Lug Nut Remover Extractor Tool - 5 Piece Metric Bolt and Lug Nut Extractor Socket Tools” and it worked perfectly on an impact.
It will only work if your wheels are not over torqued AND if have the right 12 point socket.. Check first and loosen if needed BEFORE you try this.. otherwise it may spin on the outside and ruin any future attempts.. Ask me how I know.. And DON'T use a silicone lubricant trying to get the socket on or off.. Again, ask me how I know...
3:10 omfg you only need one socket just put a somthing solid down into the socket and whack the lock nut out of the socket you may need to put it in a vice or just smack the thing that you used in the socket on the ground to pop the lock nut out of the socket
What about if the outer part of locking lug isn't fixed & spins round? I knocked a socket on & took me 2 hours to get it off and it's still stuck in the socket now so that method will NOT work on my Fiat 500X
There is a simple trick to make the removal process of the wheel lock from the 12 pt socket by holding it upside down when hitting it: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nyZ2PkBUVJo.html
All I need to remove a locking wheel nut in ten seconds is a lug wrench (the one that comes with your car), and a paper clip. Works every time. No hammers, sockets, blah blah.
1. You were way too far away from your mic... 2. You don't use a torque wrench to loosen lug nuts 3. There are toooooo many videos out there about this (using a breaker bar) already! 4. Using an extension to knock the wheel lock out of the socket you pretty much messed-up the extension too... Wow! 5. Consider remake/remove this video so perhaps you will have subscriber/save the embarrassment.
NOPE! It IS the best way to remove the damn McGard useless nuts, period. As far as I can see, He is using a Sears Craftsman MicroTorque Torque Wrench with a capacity of 150 Lb-Ft, so that a properly torqued wheel nut WON'T overdrive or damage it. Of couse it is better to use a breaker bar, but your comment is too corrosive and out of place.
