A good question! We've not tried that upgrade on the C5 platform so cannot be 100% certain and don't want to misinform you. I'm thinking likley not and a window motor upgrade may be needed - but could absolutely be wrong on that! Total Technik Ok cheers. Several on changing mirror unit completely, but none on changing parts. Like the main casing or lower, or to folding mirrors. Cheers

Good question! Although, purely from memory, I don't think they are supplied painted. You still have to get the new one painted. Very expensive new from Audi too! If you have RS6 mirrors they will be aluminium finish. Might be worth an upgrade via a used pair of RS6 ones on eBay?? Total Technik I have a 2002 A6 2.7T. So the RS6 mirrors fit? I have the auto dimming, with memory, auto folding heated mirrors. That’s a good idea to pick up a universal color to match. The only down side is buying two when I only need to replace one. A garbage truck hit my drivers side door, fender and mirror.

@@tomoprime217 Yes, the RS6 mirrors should fit no problem I believe. But you need to match the spec, and not many RS6 C5's have the memory option. They do exist, but rare. Also, you can buy single mirrors used on eBay, not always in pairs. Cheapest option would be to buy a used one from a car in the same colour that is in decent condition.

The part numbers vary as there can be quite a few different variations on the wing mirrors depending upon model etc. The best bet is to hunt one down used on eBay as they are very costly otherwise. Just ensure with the seller that the spec of the car it's coming off matches yours and you should be absolutely fine! @@TotalTechnik does that mean that not all mirror assemblies for an A6 C5 would be the same then? Also, assuming I did manage to find like for like, how easy is it to change the back panel of the mirror. My current one which has broken at the pivot is blue and ones I'm seeing online are black, so I'd like to use the original with the new mount if possible

No, just removal unfortunately.
