If they are soldered to the mirror glass connections, I can see 2 ways - either un-solder them, or cut them off. Make sure you insulate the ends.

You're right - it is tough :) What I think it might be - auto dimming mirror. Normally, they put them as central rear view mirror, some cars have side mirrors like that. Don't know why you would need a third wire.. There is some wiring to mirror adjustment motor. Could that be the case?

+WheelsAndMotors could be, I guess. I connected the two wires to the clips and adjustment seemed to work. The remaining wire is actually two wires coupled to a clip. The old mirror also had a wire with a clip to which the one in the housing would connect (along with the two metal clips to which the other wires would connect). The aftermarket replacement mirror I picked up didn't have that wire. For now, I left the coupled wire disconnected. I don't know what I've lost in doing this.

Does heating for mirror work ok?

But yea I live in the city so its summer time i was pissed when it happened tho! Had duct tape around the housing not too much hope didn't ruin the paint I gotta do a whole process now. As I remember, there are 2 screws at the bottom of housing. Remove mirror glass, those 2 screws and the rest should be held on clips from inside...

thanks for quick replay. Maybe you have had this problem before: When i unfold my wing mirror it goes over the position where it should stop , there is cracking sound and motor keeps spinning until the mirror is folded till the very end. Then i have to pull it back manually in position.. Any ideas how to fix it or what might cause the problem ?

I didn't have such problem, because I didn't have electric servo on my mirrors, I could fold them manually only, so can't give you good advice, sorry :(

If you want to change covers, there are 2 little bolts underneath and then you can un-clip the plastic cover... I've done it myself, but didn't make the video, and I don't have this car anymore, so I can't show you. Try it - it shouldn't be difficult.

+WheelsAndMotors hey, sorry for interupt, but my mirrors stole and THEY put new ones, but driver side HEATER works and in early mornings its clear but passenger side mirror not warm, so, i thought maybe those CABLES need connect in right way not like he said it's doesnt matter which wire goes on which one plug on mirror?? thank you for respond, wil try mix them othe way

Hi Chris, sorry about late reply, not quite sure about auto dimming - I recon once you pop off the mirror, you should be able to see connections.

Yes. You should be able to adjust it by pushing with your fingers... unless it's stuck for some reason.

Wow, that's unusual. Maybe some short circuit, or maybe stuck switch?

I don't remember by now (don't have that car anymore). I think the motoe can be taken out and it's held by something like 3 bolts.

@@wawayltd I opened and find the 3 screws, they are hex ,comes off and just needed to disconnect the electrical connection, very easy, thanks.

To be honest I'm not quite sure. If you buy aftermarket mirror, it comes without friction finger (got this name from manual). Additional support maybe?

Probably need to have a look in settings. My car didn't do it.. Did your car do it before?

Pause the video at 1:32 - it shows colour of those wires, where they connected. However, I suspect that it might not matter - it should work either way. Normally if there is connection that should be put only one way, VW/Audi make it impossible to connect the other (wrong) way... if that makes sense.

Sorry to hear that :( When I discovered that they can be removed so easy, I thought it's a bit unsecure.. Luckily, I didn't have any theft cases. It's not only Audi - it's almost every car. But what can you do?
