Just a correction note - once you have all screws and clips undone, you pull the door pad horizontally towards you and not up. I pulled the window rubbers off which is the wrong way to do it.
Hi Hilton. Great video. Just shows how intricate the door panel arrangement is. The wood wrap on centre piece looks well and it will be interesting to see the result when all the wrapping is done. :-)

Thanks Andy. I'm quite excited to do it and see the finished results. I just need time to set aside to do it as I can rush it. I'll need a whole day so hopefully I'll get time soon. Thanks for watching 😊😉
Whats up Hilton! Im about to change my 8" display to a 10" display. Ive done my research and found an OEM part from a donor vehicle. So I wanted to let you know as that seems like something youd like to do as well. I wasnt thinking about recording until i saw your videos and i figured itd be very helpful because it was difficult to find how to do it. Ill keep you posted!
Thanks Xavier. Post a link to your video once you've done it. Many subscribers would like to know how to do this. I haven't done it as I'm looking for an XFR to buy and won't be keeping my XF for very long ;)
Hey Artur. Yes apparently there clips that were missing inside the light housing so the LEDs were twisted the wrong way. Jaguar fixed it under warranty.
@@carfanfan interesting, mine also has those fibers and plugs, but it doesn't work... I have light only above window buttons, but not in the doors handle or storage compartment. Mine just run out of warranty 3 months ago :)
@@indjanek to be honest, the one's in the door handles are very faint still. I'm thinking of replacing it with my own solution when I do the lower fiber ones. Take a good look under your door handles, you'll probably find they are working.
@@carfanfan hey Hilton New to your channel,,been watching but just sub,, i am about take of my door panel, do you know what size or type bulbs work in the ambient light
@@carlwils5858 Hey Carl - you can use any basic LED really, but I would recommend installing the El wire instead of trying to hook up the factory ambient light - the little black holder that contains the bulb is fiddly to get apart and will probably break.
Hi Hilton, interesting re the ambient lighting. I noticed in one of your other videos you said there was no lighting in the door handles on your x260. However mine is the prestige model without ambient lighting but my door handles have lights. So as it looks you pointed out your we’re connected up but don’t seem to work could there be an issue with your bulb?
Hey Daniel, I'm not quite sure but I'll check at the dealer tomorrow as I have to rake it in for new windshield wipers (being replaced under the maintenance plan). I'll ask to have a look at one on the showroom floor. Thanks for letting me know as I was confused that it's plugged in, but yet none of the door handles light up. I thought Jag cheaped out on me - if they did, I have no problem remedying that myself as I was planning on quite a large ambient lighting project on the car.
Great video. Hilton you mention “the manual,” what brand of manual are you referring too? Did you purchase online? In the USA, Chilton is a popular service and repair manual but not currently offered for the XF 260. You are off to a great start and can’t wait to the dash trim removal. Also I have an inkling you will solve the ambient lighting wiring too. Cheers.
Hi Reggie - yeah I did. I should probably do a video on it. The Android system actually is plug and play and all the current stuff in the car will work with it (cameras, factory USB, antenna etc). The only thing that requires an additional antenna is the GPS in the replacement unit. But that's easy, you just plug the antenna in and hide it somewhere inside the dash. They are pretty expensive though and the house needs more money to be spent on it, so I'm not buying one any time soon. But at least I know I can replace it if I want to.
JagFan Hilton i would really appreciate a video of that and also the kind of interface you used. Do you know if it also works with the wide 10” display?
I have the exact same car only the diesel engine I dont like what you are doing to your car,It is the same as taking a beautiful perfect body top model and giving her plastic surgery altering her to make her better in your eyes.....Designers much more skilled then all of us put together have worked for years making this beauty look the way she is and then you come changing everything. I feel sorry for your car man
Thanks Ofer but since I didn't have the option of speccing wood in the car, I will be adding it myself. If you'd been following me for years, you will know by now that I do things properly and whatever I do will ensure it looks better than the plastic they endowed my XF with.
@@carfanfan Thanks for replying mate, I have been following your channel for a while now and enjoyed your videos,To be honest one of the reason I decided to buy this car was seeing your old xf videos. But as I said earlier I personally don't like altering the vehicle to an extreme but that is me.I am sure though we both enjoy driving this beautiful machine the same no matter what.Have a good day mate
