NEW METHOD: Today, I register my car online rather than going into a store or tax office. However, I did need to get the car inspected by an inspection station. That had to be done within 90 days of renewal.

You do have to pay $4.75 for processing. If you go to the groceries stores, you can save that money.

So you can just go out to any place that does vehicle inspections without any former paperwork stating you're there for an inspection, have them do an inspection, print off a piece of paper saying if it passed, then go online and file it to get your sticker online, right??

yes, although most inspection places will ask for proof of insurance to do the inspection

Just renew through this process anyway. You don't need the physical paper, just need to know to renew around the expiration date which is on the windshield sticker anyway.

Yes, here was my timeline: 1. Registered online on 1/11 2. Received a proof of registration PDF on 1/13 via email (can show this wherever needed) 3. Received sticker in mail 2.5 weeks later 2/1

Question: Why do I need to do my car inspection? You do not use the inspection paper in the online application form.

Inspections are submitted electronically, and the portal looks for a valid inspection to proceed

My car expires this month and can’t find/don’t believe I’ve received my vehicle registration renewal notice in the mail which is the only document I need. Can I still request a paper version even though I’m in the same month of expiration? Thanks for any help.

I've never requested a paper version, but you could probably call the tax office. I just end up doing it online regardless of receiving a notice
