We have waited 11 weeks for my child's passport to be renewed we went to are local passport office 3 days before she flew with the school we managed to see someone after 4 hours but told us her passport was in the process of being printed in ireland they told us to go and we would be called later that day we had the call and told us to fill in a new form and get new photos and go back the next day and we should be able to get it with petrol and parking 80pound on top of the renew price not right not after 11 weeks
Wow, thanks for the kind comment Denz, and really sorry to hear about this. Shockingly bad, and funny that they're printed in Ireland when the Home Office's own press release says they're made in Britain. That's terrible after 11 weeks. We're waiting to hear anything after 4 weeks on one passport, and on the other I had to do the ID check a second time for no reason given. Glad you saved the school trip but ouch that's over a hundred quid for not your fault. Thanks again - you're a great parent.
Hi Tony Thanks for the kind comment -- hope I've understood the question correctly: It was easy to change the name on the passport, and it was really easy to change a child's name first too. We used a company called deedpoll.org.uk and did it online. Hope this helps!

Hi Krishna Thanks for the kind question Yes I posted the old passport and chose First Class Signed For £2.35 in A5 envelope Which you dont have to use it could be plain first class Or second class signed for Hope this helps!
Hi there, please can you help. Even if the Father happily signed the Deed Poll for the child’s name change 3 years ago, will Passport Office still need his written consent? He has gone MIA & the Government can not even find him. I sent Passport Office the official Deed Poll, Childs School Report, her old passport, & my written consent as I am the only parent she technically has. Surely they do not need his written consent again? When he signed the Deed Poll?
Hi ASMR Gracelyn - Thanks for the kind question: I'm not an expert, but if it helps - I'm not in a similar situation BUT it really sounds like you have enough documentation there. I sent 2 passport renewals at the same time: the one with the Deed Poll took over 10 weeks and I was worried there was a problem. There was no problem, there is just a backlog and it went to a different office than the other passport (which renewed in a week). Unfortunately you have to wait 10 weeks before you can start chasing the Passport Office. I got a message that it was received but then heard nothing else. I called on the first day after the 10 weeks on the advice line in the description and they were incredibly helpful, and tracked it to the office and said that it had just been approved. (I think the call might have helped the 'nudge'.) I think the hold up is that someone has to manually look at the Deed Poll and the School Report - honestly, our report was just a crappy printout and the deed poll was a certified copy not the original. I think you'll be okay. Let me know if you hit any problems because it might help anyone in a similar situation reading the comments. Also - if you have a trip before the end of 10 weeks, then that's grounds to call before the 10 weeks and they might be able to expedite it, but some say you might have to pay a little extra. Hi Lianne Thanks for the kind question - I think I should make a video on this... Yes, you have to change your name legally first in the process called Deed Poll. When we asked a local solicitor they charged £200 +VAT so we went with an online company called deedpoll.org.uk and did it online instead. They charged around £40 per person - you get a discount if you're doing 2 or more at the same time. And you can buy certified copies of the Deed Poll - around £13 each so that you don't have to send the original document to the school, bank, NHS, Driving Licence, Passport Office etc. I'm not paid by them (yet!) but it was really straightforward - you could get it done this weekend! Does it have a problem, if i change my full name. And does they want any evidence from me why i need to change my full name?. I have travel document. I am not citizen.
Thanks for the kind question Abay. I think you will need to change your name first, legally and THEN you can change your name on the UK passport. So when you apply to change the name on the passport, you will need to send them the document confirming the legal name change. You can't change your name by changing the name on the passport. @@contentregistered4774 Thanks - For one passport, it was one week from confirmation to delivery. For the other where a name change had to be confirmed it took 10 weeks, and the rules are that they won't even look into it unless you have an urgent trip - and then some people have said they've had to pay extra to expedite it. I called the Passport Advice Line on the 10 week deadline and they located it over the phone, and got the new one to us within a week. Hope this helps, and good luck!
Hi, I got one passport back in 3 weeks and the other I haven't got back yet - 6 weeks since sending the old passport. Apparently we can't do anything until 10 weeks has elapsed. Hope this helps.
